OFF day and NUTRITION

How much do you typically reduce your cals/carbs on OFF days? Granted, the PW shake is removed, but aside from that, evening carbs or carbs in general removed?

What if you did a cardio seesion in the am, and then the rest of the day was off? Carbs in first meal only?

Does anyone do any core strength training on their off days in the PM? Maybe light cardio, followed by swiss ball exercises, bridges, abs, calves, etc in the PM, still have a good carb meal post?

Much thanks to all.

Bro, you are seriously stressing over some minor details, youve been in this game for some time now, you need to experiment with different techniques and see what works for you. Guess what bro, all these questions, no one is going to give you the same answer, everyone has a slightly different technique to these things, you need to try something, stick with it for a little while and see how you react to it, this is what you should have been doing for the last few years. It takes trial and error to find out what approach works best for you. You can write a book with all these questions bro, i honestly think that you have an answer in your head that you are looking for, and if you have any knowledge on these things you should be able to come up with an approach to try. You could get 10 answers to your many many questions on here, all of them from trainers or nutritionalists, and you will not get the same answer over and over again, you will get different answers, everyone has their own approach to things. Try things out bro, you have time to figure things out, its not like your planning on going pro next year, this shit takes time bro.

Jus part of the learning process.....yes, my book is in the works, but I'm not planning on my pro card for at least 3 more years.......

Chef, when I posted that a few months ago, we had a lot less on these boards, plus I got no decent answers...didnt want to bump an old thread.....more concerned with do you do core training on your off days or just veg out and get fat?

Off days are exactly that, off days, days used for recovery, so no, no core training.

I don't lift a finger on off days. I eat the same.
Well, I may do yardwork. :Chef: :tuc:

Are you both pretty seditary at work? I guess I just feel like I should do SOMETHING, since I sit in an office all day and put down 6 meals..............even if I do am cardio.....

you grow when you rest. if you never rest you wont grow as you would with rest. yes eat the same on rest days as you would workout days. unless your cutting and on a very low calorie diet. on workout days i would eat a little more for energy since you use more on those days. but if your bulking and on a high caloric ciet, yes you need to eat the same on rest days. and no do not go to the gym and decide to "do something" just because. you need rest. that is how you grow the most. give your body time to recover. for every muscle fiber you tear, 2 grow back. that is what i learned from a pro body builder who happened to be my health teacher in high school. he also owned a small gym. i will never forget what he taught me. and yes that is how muscle grows, it gets microscopic tears and the way the body works is it makes more so the same thing doesnt happen again. if do not allow these tears to heal you wont give your body a chance to grow new ones. that is why we cycle the workouts body parts.

hope this helps. but it is my opinion so take it as you may. it has worked for me. i just have a problem with the other side of muscle groth. burning fat. but i am getting better at it so hopefully this time i can cut up real good and get shredded.

Machine couldn't have put it any better. See what works for you bro. Trial and error is part of the game. BUT - so is gaining knowledge....me personally, two carbs meals on off days, the first two meals of the day to be exact.

In my neck of the woods we call off days cheek and neck day! cheek (eating) neck (looking at woman - and or listening to some g-unit shit)! Other than that i too will not lift a finger!

hey bro,

i just take out my pre/post shakes and normally my pre/post meals are high in cals and since i wont workout i dont eat as much in those 2 meals.

i only have 1 full rest day and i try to do as little as possible

Eat, sleep and train. I go out every once in a while! :Chef: :tuc:

Must be nice you little goober. My job is very physical sometimes so on my off days besides yard work I do NOTHING and sleep alot. I love it. :D

650 worth of cardio now???? that's well over an hour bro......isnt it overkill???????? I like everyone else's thought that your body is repairing itself..........I take in my starchy carbs in my first meal and my fruit.........then it's all veggies and extra fat/protein..........all day long. Thanks for your opinion though.

1 hour actually, show sept 22nd. Plus as you read ate nothing but ice cream and taco bell all weekend to excess. Will adjust if im getting to lean.

I understand the ned to grow, and the need for excess, but I still see no reason to take in the same amount of calories on off days. I still go lower.

The stuff most people put in their garbage cans is probably more nutritionally redeeming than the stuff I put in my body on off days. For me, off days are WAY off days. Gotta let your guard down once in a while. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. ;)

Agree, however I think losing the pw shake which can be 500 cals is adequate......just have a decent size dinner less the carbs too.........maybe a p/f meal.
