As a side note, in case you haven't read any posts of mine from the bodybuilding/weightlifting forum (I also never mentioned it)
A lot of sites give the amount of calories burned for doing certain exercies. One of the exercises I do, which is NEVER mentioned is drumming.
I am a drummer... but not your ordinary drummer. I do not own a drumset currently. I was a drummer in high school and college, so its not like I am a novice drummer.
What I do quite regularly is air drum (with sticks) as if I had a full size drum set in front of me while I sit in front of my computer while winamp is playing. I do this for approximately an hour and a half about 4 days a week, mostly because as soon as I move out of my apartment and get a house, I'd like to join a band, and I'd like to keep my chops, but I also sweat out a ton and pant like no other.
If anyone in the forum is a drummer, or has any clue as to about how many calories are burned in a drum session (figure, since I am a Rush fan, that I do a lot of fills, and quick [over 80 tempo] rhythms) please let me know roughly what the equivalent is.
If I were drumming to punk music like Blink 182 for 45 minutes, would it equate to about 30 minutes on a moderate ride on a stationary bike?
This question has often perplexed me and I am absolutley SURE that some calories are burned whether you are air drumming or drumming for real.
ANY DRUMMERS OUT THERE???????
