Nudity in Avatars....

not to be an asshole, BUT, there are times when I am parousing (sp?) the site at work innocently on the main page and I realize that the word "BUTTS" is at the top of the page in huge letters right next to a woman's ass in a thong. not tryin to start shit, just putting in my 2 cents. I like the nudie avatars, but if it isn't acceptable by management's standards then that's the way it is.

You are totally correct about the main page...from the get go you have the butts pic or an ad for "the art of seduction" book (close on the title) which features two chicks in Bikinis over one another....And by the way, the avatar you have Killah may be consider offensive. I mean a guy who is basically wearing a tiny speedo may not be appropriate for someone's 8 year old son....

I always turn avatars and images off at work, not just because of the nudity but it also makes surfing much faster.

Since I'm sure I'll be one of the first that is affected by this, I'm going to chime in and say that I completely agree with avenirup.

There are multiple sections devoted to nudity and sex, and a huge focus of this site is about the use of illegal drugs. This is hardly someplace to surf when you're at work nor is it wholesome family entertainment. An 8 year old should be nowhere near the content on this site.

Ultimately, this is George's site, and he should make the decisions. He lays down the law, and we can choose to abide by it or go back from whence we came. But don't try to arbitrarily make something "offensive". I have been offended by much more on this site than the woman's ass in my avatar.

i'm gonna say something here that's probably going to piss some people off, but oh well. if you're at work, shouldn't you be WORKING and not surfing the net? if your boss comes walking in and sees an avatar that is R rated, i mean come on, what should you be more worried about - the fact that you're fucking off at work and just got caught or the images on your computer? granted, there are probably some people that have jobs where surfing the net is legit, but for the people that are just fucking off at work, maybe you should be more worried about working and not surfing.

about the content of the forums - didn't GS say himself that he was not going to have people censoring what gets posted on this site? granted, i've heard that mentioning certain other sites will be automatically censored, but wasn't there an issue with a mod censoring posts or deleting threads jsut because they did not agree with them and GS said he was not going to allow that to happen?

also - maybe on the page where all the forums are listed with a brief description of each there should be a "warning" saying that the content of the forum may not be work safe or whatever. i know the pictures of women forum has no such warning, and the first time i went in there i was greeted with full frontal nudity while my 2 children were walking through the room. a warning about the contents of the forum on the forums listing page would've been nice so i would've known to save that one for after the kids went to bed.

good points about the flashing banners and some of the content of this site being anabolic steroids, guide to getting laid, and what not. if now there's a stink being made about avatars, then why aren't you complaining about these other things as well? i do feel that yes, everyone should use some common sense in their avatars and post avatars up that are no more than you can see on regular TV. being worried about the content of people's avatars while you are surfing this site at work says that you probably don't have your priorities straight. there's a lot of other things on this site that you should be worried about an employer catching you looking at than just an avatar.

i mainly surf EF at home. there are 2 children in this house - my 6 yr old "step-daughter" (she would be anyway if me and her mother were married) and my 3 yr old son. i really have no problem with one of them walking through the room while there's a thong avatar or a bikini avatar. that's something that they can basically see on TV. but i don't look at porn while they are awake, so i do know that I, for one, do appreciate when people use a friendly avatar (although Mr. Black's apple avatar was AWESOME! )

digger put it right - we all know that Tab A goes into Slot B. use some common sense. i havn't seen an avatar in a few days that looks a little too "revealing," so why are we making a big deal out of this now?

Define nudity.....woman's boobs, woman's boobs with nipple covered, vagina, ass, ass with thong, back, arms, legs..anything not covered. Nudity is a broad word...or how about a man's chest, abs, back, penis, chest with covered nipples, ass, legs...anything not covered.

Probably the easiest thing would be to post a little sign when anyone comes into EF that there may be pics of a graphic nature..viewer warning...

And keep in mind people could be turned off by many other things besides nudity....What may offend one person--does not offend another--you either have to be a PC site or a non PC site....

Should we also start to watching the language in the chat forum as we would not want to offend anyone....

You need to create well thought out, specific rules for all users (paying plat and non paying members), not ones that change from day to day or mod to mod. Until then, I will do my best to comply with the vague, generic EF standards.......

Some of us have the ability to multitask at work which is how we browse this site. I'm so used to the way I take calls that i can be browsing this website while efficiently talking to a customer and typing what they say in another screen while reading. I also read the forums while on break and lunch. I to have noticed the increase in nudity in the avatars and i was even gonna posta thread yesterday b/c they were getting out of hand. The sys admins at my work are very loose when it comes to restrictions on what we can view and I would rather that not be taken away b/c someone sees a nude chick on my screen.
