NPC figure vs. fitness physiques

ok.. i just got back from a show tonight and i gotta be honest with ya all.. since the inclusion of the new category "figure" which was originally intended to be "fit" girls with relatively low bodyfat and nice muscle tone has really turned into fitness bodies just minus the routine. The chick that won tonight was ripped, ~11%.. could have easily been a fitness competitor. There are also crossovers from fitness to figure and even light weights to figure. SO.. now i am wondering.. what is the difference between the divisions? It just seems that figure had really become fitness without the routine...

In one way i am psyched, because i have wanted to do a fitness show because i like that physique but have been discouraged because i can't tumble BUT the figure girls are going in muscular and ripped... so i am thinking that i may want to compete in figure now...

Just wanted to hear some other opinions on the new category and what the total vibe is. And do you think it is then fair to the figure competitors to have a fitness competitor in their class... And for those who have competed in figure or seen the shows, is it the ripped muscular girl that is winning?

In my opinion, figure is fitness without a routine. New@ won her first figure show at less than 10% bodyfat and was well muscled, but certainly not that of a bodybuilder.

I've been to a few of these figure shows and the fitness looks wins. Most of the girls in these shows look (and act) like strippers with fat asses and narrow shoulders and that ain't what this is about.

The f***ing pre-judging at a show yesterday was 4+ hours with figure, fitness, and bodybuilding. Its getting rediculous. In fact, some of the fitness girls competed in both figure-fitness and fitness-bodybuilding. Getting to be too much time wise. NPC isn't about beauty shows. To be honest, I'd rather see fitness and figure have stand alone shows and go back to bodybuilding only with 2 hours prejudging, but without T&A you don't get the audience anymore.

Figure is supposed to be just LIKE fitness w/ out the routine. You should have a body fat lower than 12%....a competitor needs to suffer and take their bodies to a somewhat of a extreme to compete. Coming on stage w/ sloppy legs and no shoulders is not going to do it. It still is about muscle, symmetry, and tightness. Its not a place for the tropic girls or slightly toned strippers. The longer we have this category and people see what the judges are looking for...we will run into less competitors who are far from ready to compete. Every show I have seen the girls that placed high have abs, and definition in legs, arms, shoulders etc...not really soft at all. I am getting ready to do my 2nd figure contest in 2 weeks. And I expect good competition and girls that are in condition....its the way it is supposed to be...not a freakin beauty pageant w/ sloppy girls w/ big tits.

I'm figuring if i compete, figure will be where i end up... lots of work to do though... not sure what i'll do

lol.. ya know.. it is funny when these girls do get on stage who are nowhere even near ready for bikini season let alone a competition. Out of the 5 competitors yesturday, only 2 had tight bodies and the winner had a flat ass, but was ripped at 11%. her full 6 was in as well as some shoulder striations. The other 3 were a joke.. they should have been in a wet tshirt contest instead.. i think i have more muscle in my forearms then they had in their entire arm LOL
But i am gonna aim for a november show.. i really want to compete.. shooting for about 11-12%

Hey new@... how do you feel about the carb loading for 1 day and depletion for 3? Also a week out did you water manipulate?

Well you know that you will always have support. And I for one KNOW that you have what it takes to succeed. :)

i just went to an NPC Show that had fitness and figure competition. And it was like everyone else said...they were judging for fitness without routine. Most of the gurls were like that...the difference was in the glutes...the gurls with the tightest buts won...there really weren't any too sloppy gurls in these...they had short and tall classes for both.

I was in a figure comp in June and didn't even place becauz I was too muscular. The girls were nothing to look at. I was disgusted. The judges based it on a beauty pagent but the girls weren't even pretty.

I don't think girls should cross over that's why it has it's own division. Competitors should stick with what they are training for.

Figure division comps I think are a hoax.
