NPC Competitors

Shaved Ape

New member
Just wanted to hear from some of you guys who compete in the NPC, either at the regional or national level. This was my first season in competition and I'm qualified for nationals for the next 3 years (placed second in Superheavyweights at State championships) but I don't plan on hitting that level for another 3 to 4 years.

I would like to hear about your age, level of competition, years you have been competing, and input about the move from regional to national level of competition. I'd also like to hear some opinions about moving through the Junior USAs and Junior Nationals before entering the pro qualifiers.

Well Im 33, first year competeing. Did 2 shows, got 2nd both times. I as well qualified for nationals (middleweight-Tn. state show). I plan on doing 2 shows next year. If everything goes perfect with my cycles, I may try for the national level next fall, if not Ill wait until 2003.

Competed in my first NPC shows this year. Won both, first MW and overall for the 1st show, then 1st MW for the second show. (I'm female)

Qualified to Nationals and will do NPC Nationals in Nov. as long as I put on 10 lbs of muscle. Will probably also do another NQ before Nationals to get me ready at a little more.

I was just going to say" Quadsweep is around here somewhere" hahaha.....Hey I might do my first show this year but I guess that don't mean much......HAHAHA.

First show last year

Competed in my first show in Mar of 2001 in Southern Ca. Took 3rd as a Lht. Hvy. wt. (weighed 188 lbs). Want to eventually compete as a heavy wt. Right now still putting on size. Currently @ 235 lbs. at 11%. 5'8".

Peace

My first show was the march 2001 show in San Diego. 2001 was the start of it now being the World's Gym Classic.

Thanks Quadsweep...The only reason I really don't want to do it is because my arms lag very badly....at 220lbs and 5'11 arms are only about 17in,Triceps are extremely stubborn...Man I was checking out some more of your pics your back and Quads look fantastic....You're gonna kill at the USA's

cool bro!

how did ya do? i did both novice and open LHW classes....1st and overall novice, and 3rd in the opens :)

Pharm Animal

Took 3rd in open Lht hvy wt. and 4th in hvy wt. novice. Bit by the BB bug now though and training my ass off ever since

I also have a friend who will be competing in the USA's at superheavy. He is at 315 at 8.5 % bf as of last week. No shit, he is a freak of nature. He said something about coming in at 270 on stage. He is thick!

Competed in Nationals in 2001

I just competed at Nationals in 2001 in Atlanta. I cam in as a lightweight and placed 13 outta 29 in my class. I was way to dieted down and didnt retain enough size. I will go to Nationals this year in Dalls as a middleweight and I hope to do better.

Hey Quadsweep, good to hear you'll be at the USA. I'll be there too.....as a spectator. :( But I do know someone that will be there. His name is World and his site is at http://photos.yahoo.com/world_harris He'll be competing as a super hw though.

I am glad he is a super/Hvy!:D

What are your stats? Do you have any photos?

I am 5'6 and I was wondering what weight I should be at to do a show. 154 seems too light and I am thinking that the middle weights would kick my ass.

Thats impressive quadsweep -- do you have any recent pics around, or are they already posted somewhere?

I'm gonna have to call bullshit one of those sets of World Harris pics. I dont argue that he is a huge guy, and I remember seeing him in Musclemag a few months ago. But those indoor pics (1st photos folder) are clearly alterred, particularly in the lats and waist. the outdoor pics (Sept. folder) are the unalterred World Harris.

BigD50, what's your boy's name? I'll keep an eye out when I'm down there. Also I think at the SHW level they are ALL freaks.

I think the only pic of World that is altered is the one where he's lying down. I just saw him at the Ironman in Dec and he is just that big. It's scary....and it PISSES me off. :D

Here's a pic of another friend of mine that just competed in the Ironman in Dec. He placed third in novice which encompassed all the hw divisions in novice. The two that placed ahead of him were super hw's. The scary thing about this guy is he's not that far off from contest condition all year long. ....very lean. ...and THAT PISSES me off! ;)

He's thinking of trying to get to national level but doesn't know if he wants to juice all year long to maintain at that level.

I have competed NPC, placed first middleweight in national qualifier... I will be competing in another NQ first this year, as sort of a practice run for Jr. Nationals.. then I will be competing in Nationals... I definately think that it is much easier for women to move up the ranks as compared to men.. the competition at the men's level is far far greater than that of a female... for chicks, if you are pretty and have pretty decent shape and size, you can compete in nationals. For men though.. you better be on fire to even think about getting on that stage... much higher quality muscle over-all I must say..

World Harris is one huge dude. How tall is he? And what's with the vampire teeth in the close-up photo? Is he one of the undead?

I will be doing my second competition in April. I did my first last year and took 1st in the novice and 3rd in the open as a middle. I'm gonna try for middle again this year but 15 lbs heavier come in at the top. If I do really good I'm thinking of doing the Jr. USA 2 weeks later. I'm currently 5'5" 217lbs 9%.

World works out about the same time I do at the gym, but he's always wearing baggy clothes. After looking at his pictures on Yahoo, I've got to say WOW -- I'm impressed. Good thing I don't have to compete against that!
