Two women just came in, one was a member (who "hasn't been here for a while") the other was her "guest". I asked her if her "guest" had previously used the facility. They both said, "Yes." I tried to look up her name as ALL guests names are entered into the system. When I couldn't find anything they both said, "Well it was like 2 weeks ago."

Our gym only offers 7 days passes AT MOST.

I explained that the passes are issued for CONSECUTIVE DAYS but that if her guest wanted to use the facility the fee for the day was $25.00.

Of course, she claimed ignorance to this policy and *perish the thought* someone having to PAY for the use of the facility.

They left, of course. Then the member came back in and claimed ignorance and also that the sales staff "misled her" with the notion that she could bring as many guests to use the facility as she liked....

FOR FREE.

When I told her that this was not our policy and I was sorry if there was a misunderstanding she asked what the procedure was for her to cancel her membership.

They used to pull this shit on me at Golds all the time. I had to terminate many memberships because of this.

I woudl always bait them when I knew they had been in before and simply ask the up front when the last time they (the guest) used the club.. looking directly at them and not the member..

They would usually answer honestly not realizing and I would tell them the day fee was 10 dollars (our guest passes were 1-3 days consecutive) and could only be used for first time guests.

One guy kept trying to bring his girlfriend in.. So I called him out and he got pissed.. called me a dick in front of the othetr manager..

yesterday when i was looking at new gyms, i saw some members from my old one that just shut down.
they kept coming over to ask me if they could get a refund, etc.

I am sure they lose money cause of people that never show up, but it works for me...

DAmn $25 a day to use the gym, is that about 1/2 the ammount it costs for a membership/ month. Why would you charge so much for a days use? Just curious. I could understand $5 maybe even $10, no way i am paying $25 to use a gym for a few hours. I would of left and came back w/o my friend.

Wow $25 for the day is a bit much. I belong to a gay corp gym can't bring the same guest in more then once every 6 months. Nothing wrong with a guest fee but no more then $10 IMO.

I was actually thinking of working legs at a local gym for the day every now and then but at $25 a shot... that may not be a good idea.

I use a corporate gym, totally free and I bring free guests in all the time.. the best part is that on the weekends I am the only one there.. crank up the music, wreck shop!

bad news is that the weights are always un organized and half the time people leave the weights on the bars and shit.. but oh well, small price to pay for a free and private gym.

Was that the Gold's in Vista? I was a "charter" member of that gym when it was being built and didn't even have the pool in. That was a great gym until Bailey's bought it. There were some great equipment and some phenominal guys in there who were enormously helpful.

Yes, I recall all the bullcrap you guys went through making that pool go in. I asked about it every morning and would just sadly shake my head at the crap Vista was doing to you. It was almost as if they don't really want businesses in Vista.

That was a real lifter's gym. I was taught so much by the veteran members there and they were always amazingly helpful with spots or correcting of form that it made lifting there an absolute pleasure. I still recall that one black guy who'd come in there. He was JACKED and if I recall either an Oceanside cop or an ex-Oceanside cop.

Then there were the 3 guys who always worked out together and had HUGE benches (5plate a side+). Legs like chickens, but their chest and arms were AWESOME!

Guest fees in some places are outragous. Sorry to knick your gym Gymgurl, but when I spend Christmas in Michigan and trained at the powerhouse there (if there was a golds I coud have gotten a free pass), they made me pay $40 for a one week guest pass. Fuck, that is more than a month's membership.

Ummmmmmmmm what makes you peeps think that I have thing one to do with gym policy OR the prices they charge? LOL I get paid between 7 - 8 dollars per hour to work the front desk. Obviously that 25$ isn't going to me.

The gym where I trained in Paris charged 125 Euro PER MONTH!.... 25 Euro per DAY. And it was a fucking dive compared to most American gyms.

If the price is too high then you say, "I'm sorry, that is too much but thank you anyway." and you just leave. No problem.

I can not stand people who lie, cheat or steal which is what these people were clearly trying to do.
