Arnold was known for grabbing a beer after a workout...painting should be no different.

Painting the house is no fun. I painted the entire interior of mine before I moved in (had the ceilings repainted too but I did the poly for that and it took oh 5-6 hours). Last fall I painted the exterior. Do I even want to admit that almost a year later I still need to put the 2nd coat on the west side of the house? lol Painting is noooo fun.

Ender-- if you've ever gutted and renovated an entire house you wouldn't want to do that. It just gets way too expensive. Just the paint was over a grand. I think I've put at least 50k into remodeling this place. If I'd had to pay for labor that would have almost doubled.

RChick, I have.

However, I believe in outsourcing. I'm not a handy person. I know that. I'm good at the stuff I do at work, but not much else. Hence, I try to be the best I can at work and earn the most that I can so that I can hire the help I need.

When I do manual work, I do it for a teambuilding exercise. For example, my wife and I are now re-doing the bathroom. Its been two days and we're almost at each other's throats.

I'm thinking of calling in the pros...

What are you having trouble with? I can see having someone else do the electrical and the plumbing if you don't know how. Even I know how to do tile though. It's not even hard. Floor or wall tile.

True, its not that hard; but I sometimes can't rationalize the effort.

For example, my wife is downstairs unscrewing the wood floor in the bathroom so we can put down a new one to tile on. I'm thinking, "Wow, that's alot of effort. Why don't you hire someone so we can be fresh for the tiling part."

i was also kind of spoiled though because I still had my apartment when I bought my house. I bought my house in March and didn't move in until last September. So when everything was a mess I didn't have to stay there.

I was just thinking of spending an easter sitting on the floor of the house. No running water. No doors. No AC. Scraping up 3 layers of old linoleum with a chisel. lol It sucked at the time but I love that I'm part of this place.

working on the house is fun. i just keep looking ahead at the finished product. that keeps me going. dont take on too much all at once. little by little and before you know it its done. i gutted my bathroom and re-tiled the floor, put in a new sink, installed a new medicine cabinet all in one day and surprised the heck out of the wife when she got home from work... i like doing that.
