Not able to repair due to crappy/lack of sleep

Been having sleep problems now for many years. And this is affecting my bodybuilding life. I'm not able to heal and repair broken muscle tissue. And wake up almost every day sore. And with minor water retention. The days I do happen to sleep...I wake up feeling great and with no water retention.

Been trying everything OTC and nothing works. The only thing that does put me to sleep is Ambien and Xanax. But I believe that both Xanax and Ambien give me anxiety the next day.

Went to my doc and he prescribed me Restoril. The stuff sucks! Take a long time to kick in and I wake up by the 4-5 hour. And I don't feel refreshed as if I slept. And I"m also sure it took away libido.

I used to be on Lexapro. But with that drug, even though it eliminated my very mild depression and sleep issues. It made me gain a lot of weight, get RLS and become very unmotivated. I had to incorporate Vyvanse in to it. And now I feel much better.

However I stopped the Lexapro and now I get anxiety from time to time. Which might explain my sleep issues.

Was thinking of "trying Trazadone. I keep reading that it will knock your ass out. Good! That's what i want! And keep reading that I will wake up sleepy. But shouldn't worry if I take Vyvanse (a stimulant).

Now I many of you have tried Trazadone. By question is....does it kill libido? Do you feel less anxious on it? Need feedback on this please.

I am right there with ya bro…. I have had difficulty sleeping for 20 years… I have been on all the meds at one time or another often while dealing with depression (clinical). Today I sleep 5-7 hours with the help of several natural and one OTC sleep aids…
At bed time I take

1 Unisom (generic)
50mg 5HTP
2 caps of True Calm (Now Nutrition) 400mg of Gaba and 50mg Valerian then some..
500mg L-Tryptophan
6mg Melatonin

This works for me.. even while on Tren!

It addresses sleep from several angles…

Yeah in the same boat, i have the hardest time sleeping and now that im on tren anxiety is so bad, last night i was swearing a whole bunch in my sleep and saying some pretty disturbing things what from i heard. I was on trazadone and prozac i think two years ago, i found that neither of them did a Goddamn thing for me, i don't think i even felt the effects of trazadone, but obviously people do cause it exists, but for me nothing, it did diddly squat for my sleep. Its worth a try i guess, i just stress about taking meds if im on them so it makes it even worse for me.
 
i know its convienient but you dont want to get hooked on sleep aids for the rest of your lives. be careful.

even needtosleep which i use says clearly not to take for more then 30 days in a row, and its made from all natural things.

my first cycle i would get up 5am cause i had to take a crap from eating so much the day before, and my current cycle I sleep 5 hours in a row if i am lucky from having to piss and crap so much. but my solution is getting a 2 hour nap during the day in which gets me caught up.

so i think instead of sleep aids you might want to take a shot at taking a nap at some point during the day instead of forcing your body to do something it doesn't want to do
 
Trazadone is an anti depressent.
I use Ambien but when ever I run out or want to go off the ambien I will take 1 50mg traz from the wife.

I do not like the trazadon. Make me feel nauseous and makes my head swimm. I also am tired in the morning and feel worn out.
 
Sleep is too important to be induced by chems. You need to address the root of the issue. Use any natural means possible but you just can't rely on meds for sleep. They are only a short term fix (if at all) and its not feasible in the long run. Have 1 glass of red wine for dinner, then drink milk before bed then have your chick rub your back till you knock out. Get a good mattress too!
 
yes, i got some of the best sleep during around christmas time, i dont drink ever, but i made an exception this year in which about 5 nights in a row i would have a glass of wine at dinner and then few hours later i was completely KO'ed
 
Get off the stimulants. Getting sun helps me sleep more than anything!
