No energy while working out?

I'm currently cutting.. I'm on my 3rd day.. and I did my back today, I felt as if there was nothing in me. I did my normal amounts of weight.. and sometimes pushed it to the limit but for some reason I think it's due to lack of carbs in my system. Could this be true? I'm following Crum's modified diet.. and I'm hoping for some loss bf.. but why am I noticing a lag in lifting when cutting?

Is this normal?

When I do a low carb diet I use a shake during my workout and it keeps my energy levels up. I use 40g of dextrose, 18 G of hydrolized whey, 5g BCAA's, 5g Glutamine Peptides and 5 g Creatine. I use twice this amount post workout. Basically, I consume about 3/4 of my carbs for the day in approcimately a two hour period.

Yes, it is normal. When cutting, you won't have as much energy as you would otherwise. You'll notice it especially in your first week or two of dieting. But your body will adjust. Your lifts will go down somewhat, but don't worry about it. It will all come back when you change your diet.

eat a bit more carbs and you won't feel that weak

If you're low-carbing, then you need to make sure you are getting enough potassium.

Lo-carbing is diuretic and tends to deplete your potassium levels and lack of energy is the result. Dizzy, washed out, etc.

I've been known to cringe at the thought of walking up the steps due to low-carb lack of energy. And to eat Morton lite salt straight for the potassium. Back to normal in about 1/2 hour and bounding up the stairs.

Make sure you're getting enough potassium - if you're not taking a good mineral supplement - this would be a good time to find one.

My first workout after I started my low carb diet was rough, I felt like I was going to faint or puke or both.

Once my body got over the shock and stopped trying to punish me, I was fine.. :) Since you're only on day 3, I would say just hang in there - don't necessarily be so quick to make changes yet - let your bod adjust.

Good luck.

Make sure that you're getting enough fat as well. without the carbs, fat is your bodies main source of energy.

Would you still get this effect( dizzness ,etc, etc ) if your carbs were around 100 - 150g a day? Because I've been getting the same thing from time to time and I've only been on the diet for about 1 1/2 week.

I had this same thing going on when I was low carbing for the first 2 weeks I'd damn near hit the floor ready to heave...Turned out I was dehydrated. Make sure you're drinking more water when you're dieting.. I know when I diet my water stores go wacky and I dehydrate much faster.
