No anti E's in Arnolds day and No bitch tits either ?

There's no secret answer but C3 pretty much covered it.

They worked their asses off and they developed their instincts. They experimented with all sorts of combinations. But today, everyone is looking for "THE" way. The perfect workout. The perfect diet. It's bullshit. And anyone who's read my book knows, a big thrust of it is helping the individual develop their own instincts so they can follow them and do what's right for themselves. But there will always be a place for the "expert du jour" to make a buck on the person who isn't willing to experiment and work hard but is will be willing to pay someone to hold his hand and tell him what to do and tell him how to eat.

There are so many great techniques that many guys starting out never heard of. Yet, they'll argue that dextrose is better than sucrose but only if it's taken 15 1/2 minutes after the last set instead of 16 minutes because some kid on the internet said so.

And THAT is why you have guys doing dosages as high as Arnold Schwarzenegger and they look like Arnold Ziffel.

(2 extra points if you know who Arnold Ziffel is).

They didn't use the high doses we do, and some of them did have gyno, just not as many. Actually Arnold was rumored to use PRIMO and d-bol, not deca. Any way, I knew we couldn't make an entire day without someone saying "Arnold" in the title of a thread...

Rumour has it Arnold kept a jar of ciba Dball on a desk and every time he had a meal he would take a handful. :)

Did you guys ever see how many pills Franco was taking in Pumping Iron. And I don't think they were all vitamins either.

I think you are refering to Lou Ferrigno (sp?), there are no scenes of Franco taking "pills".

Hard work, unheard of drive, good eating. I would say that combined with learning to know their own bodies. They didn't say "oh f' some research article says only to train my body once a week" or "some strength coach says im doing it all wrong" they found what worked through trial and error, and kept at it.

Also it seems they cared more about the overall package. I notice many prefered to have athletic looking thighs with huge calves. that combined with the tiny waists made them look like statues come to life. Today you have guys who care about size over all, and will do anything to get it. Where back then they probably shyed away from taking too much, as they wanted to keep everything flowing together?

I'm just guessing, until Nelson gives us the answer! :)

On a side note, I often wonder just how much better off we are these days. With all these coaches telling bb's what to do, all the online gurus, all the scientific programs, etc... Maybe we all just screwed ourselves over the min. we started to listen to all those reports, and coaches. It's funny how many a time we will say people like Arnold, Robby, Zane, etc were all idiots and didn't have a clue, but then we will blindly follow the first guru or strength coach to come along.... Then when someone like Nelson or Sofageorge comes along, guys who were actually there back then, they too get written off as not knowing what they are talking about. Go figure...

Great observations bro.!

Ok I think bodybuilding is great but I'll have to admit. The big guys of this day are a little too big. The growth hormone has got there chins all strecthed out and their guts. EEEWWW it looks like a big ass tire with abs oh yeah that looks great. I guess you take it as far as you can but i prefer the bodies of the old days. I think people who are really into this do train very hard. Genetics do play a factor but look at winey baby Lee Priest he has genetics from a pip squeek!!! I wish I knew what they were taking and there training philosophies. Not that they would 100% apply to me but that would allow me new things to try. The bodies of the old years dust the bloated and growth bodies of today!!! The tappered look of there waist is amazingly more aggressive looking than the growth guts !!!

I find it hard to believe that after discovering how well low doses worked, that these guys didn't up those doses.

the main thing is they just did not use as much T, no GH and no Insulin - other stuff they liked in abundance like primo, deca, dbal, etc. also the gear back then was higher quality, on the whole more effective
