Nice, cheap, close to NYC cities in NJ?

Anyone able to recommend any cities in New Jersey that are close to NYC (or have train stations close) that are relatively cheap and nice (well, atleast decent)?

If you want real close...anywhere on BLVD EAST....which has busses that run to NYC almost every 5 mins , its like 10 mins from the lincoln tunnel. Now i dont know what you consider nice, the towns are Weehawken, West New York, and North Bergen, they are very urban but its not bad around here, I live in North Bergen and its not bad . Not the nicest place in the world, but its cool and they are so many hot chicks around here too! As far as train stations go, the local one are Jersey City and Newark (which are nasty and you dont want to live there)...their are train station all over jersey but if you want to stay in the half hour range from NYC those are your options.

my mom grew up in Elizabeth and Clark and they must have been near the city b/c her dad would take the train to work in the city everyday.
my dad lives in princeton and that is about as nice a town as you could want and it has a train that goes to the city as well. forget if it is 30min or an hour and about $8.

I don't know how far Camden is from NYC, but I saw a thing on some news thing last night that the peace corps trains people for third world countries in Camden b/c the conditions have gotten so bad there and the mayors are constatnly getting arrested for organized crime ties.
so it is cheap to live there.

and a hot girl on this board lives there - I think babygirl... some name like that. she has a thread with like 10 million replies to it b/c she put up pics and is hot.

Camden is almost in PA not close to NYC. It is a shithole.

If you live in NJ then please do not come to NY anymore. You are lowering my property value. hahahahah

Princeton is about ONE HOUR by train....Yes, it is VERY NICE, but 8$...when was that 1940?!! Roundtrip from New Brunswick (2 stops closer to NYC is like 20$ Roundtrip)...of course if you buy a monthly pass it is cheaper...but still 8$?!?! NO WAY.

There are a lot of nice areas in NJ....there are also a LOT OF SHITHOLES.

I usually take the bus (can make it into Port Authority ave 1 to 1 1/2hrs depending on what time I leave)...rush hour is closer to 2 hours. That is about 15$ roundtrip. (I live in a really nice and boring suburb about 20 min north of Princetion).

And Matt - how could you say that I bring the property values of NYC down?! I'll be in Manhattan on Thurs and I am liable to come and kick your sorry ASS. hehehehe

there are alot of nice places in jersey you just have to look for them...but dude unless you want to hit traffic especially during summer don't pick by the shore. all the bennies from ny come down and clog our shit up because they don't know how to drive, so you will be sitting in traffic forever...

good luck

Have you considered Westchester?

Or Brooklyn? Red Hook, Parl Slope or Williamburg.
Easy Subway ride into the city.

(I always had a weakness for those Brooklyn boys........ ahhhh)

Cheap-NO

There are good places around, but they don't come cheap. The construction boom in Jersey City has plenty of new apartments and office buildings. It's difficult to find anything in a good neighborhood there for under $1000 a month. Try the apartment sites like rent.net to get a range of costs.
