When is the best time to visit?I'm hoping to be out there around May.I wanna stay in Long Island of course, which airport am I looking for?

Mac Arthur is in Islip, Long Island
or LaGuardia in Queens

Spring or Fall are always nice.

Summer is hell, unless you're in the Hamptons on vacation.

When you say LI, i assume you mean the Hamptons. memorial day, july 4th, and labor day are the three biggest weekends. the first few weeks after mem day are weak, and then the party picks back up....

Macaurthur in Islip is the airport closest to the Hamptons (30min)and services domestic flights from pretty much everywhere.

well my mother lives in NY with my brother, I am a couple states away.

I live 10 mins from Wodin.

I'D HAVE TO SAY THE BEST TIME TO VISIT NYC IMO IS XMAS SEASON. IT WAS PRETTY COOL WHEN I WENT LAST YEAR.

KAYNE

so what would the weather be like around may?I found $100 round trip tix from jet blue on the 1st.I'm a cali native, lookin for warmth here people!

Too many ppl live there. Dunno when to get tix. Just get a bus ticket. Alot cheaper.

sometimes it can still be a bit cool at the beginning of may (60-65) , especially near the water. As for swimming, the water doesnt warm up until July. If your looking to fully enjoy the beaches and nightlife, Id suggest June or July.

Use Mc Arthur on LI or Jfk in Queens
LaGuardia is closer to the Bronx than LI

Wah?

LaGuardia's in Astoria Queens right on the Grand Central Parkway, you would have to drive around and go over one of two bridges or swim to be in the Bronx.

JFK may be closer East but it's also an International terminal and it's still in Queens on the BELT Parkway and what a pain in the ass - I hate the Belt Parkway.

Well, I guess it really depends on whether or not someone's gonna be waiting at the airport for yah or if you have grab mass transit.

Mac Arthur is like candy, it's small, quiet and you're usually in and out of there - well, if you can get a flight in and out.

Where you are staying in LI would be important to know as well.

Hamptons - Eastern Suffolk
Islip is in Suffolk county, West of The Hamptons
Nassau County is West of Suffolk and East of Queens/NYC

Kennedy airport is on the way to LI. I would come in the spring or Fall.

Summer sucks here with the high humidity. Winter can leave you stranded if there is a major storm. If you want to hit the beaches, then come toward the beginning of summer.

My buddy just moed to Long Island yesterday. He said he has a pretty nice pad. I'm sure you could crash with him for a few days to avoid hotel costs. He's a cool guy

Like velvett said we need to know where your planning on staying. You should just go out to Montauk. You close to drive over to the Hamptons Nightlife but you also have the beach and restuarants of Montauk. If you stay out in montauk don't plan on seeing manhattan because it's a 3 hour drive.

sermon- I would post this on the going out forum if your interested in looking for hotspots and when the fun begins. NY is alot of fun starting the end of may around memorial day. I don't think the hamptons starts up till memorial day. If your looking to come in the end of may remember its still spring and the temps might not be that warm yet.l AS for airports jfk is a big one and will have good deals and they have jetblue. Its not that far from LI.

Polishhammer,

Ah yup.

Way, way way out in the middle of no where.

I escaped from NYC not too long ago.

thanx for all the replies.I'll be taking my girl for her birthday, and need to hit the hotspots at night, tourist shit during the day.I'll let all you in NY know when I'll be out.

Well, if you go to the Hampton, plan way way (did I say way?)ahead reagarding accomodations.

Trust me!

You can get a deal if you book early and find the right place.

August is the most expensive month.

Even the price of milk at the store seems to double.
You have to witness it to believe it.

Fly Jetblue into JFK.... look for rachel - then say something mean to her for me. like " hey did they change the uniform? because those pants make your ass look huge, what do you think about that?"

"love tim" (make sure to add that)

velvett, I'm talking distance (as in borders) not bridges or the Grand Central. If you check your map you find the northern tip of Laguardia is 500 meters off the southern tip of Rikers (the Bronx)
& any way you shake it JFK is still closer to LI.

Even when you kick back in the city its at a harder pace than most
places. You work hard & fast, Play hard & fast and it never ends.
You have to go out of town to get some rest.
Then its back to hard & fast!
