New Years in San Diego

My girlfriend and I are going to San Diego for New Years. We both never been there before. We will be staying there for 4 days. I wanted some help from people who live there.

We want to stay in an inexpensive hotel but close to everything if possible. We want to save money for going out instead of staying in an expensive hotel and getting a rental car.

What are the best spots to check out for New Years party?

I went to San Diego for a date last New Year's Eve. Stayed downtown at the Hyatt (i think) on the water. It was nice, you can walk everywhere and there are fireworks over the water. If you drive there on December 31, go early. It will get full of people/traffic.

Its the GASLAMP area, not gaslight.. lol..

its basically downtown.. Between B and J streets and 4th and 6th Ave.

All kinds of bars/clubs to go to.

newest and hottest club now is Stingaree. Other popular ones are On Broadway, The Bitter End, Henry's Pub, and many many more.
