New Supreme court ruling on drug testing

in case you didn't catch this:

i can only see this as a start to a trend, and a rather disturbing one at that. my concern isn't even completely about roids with this... some of the smartest, most succesful people i've known in high school and college were regular weed smokers. it is complete bullshit that people who are clearly not ruining their lives with drug use (i.e, the family man who does a few cycles a year, the pre-med biochem major who tokes on weekends) are gonna be persecuted.

look, if this law was in effect 30 years ago, both Clinton and Bush would have been screwed.

Frankly, it would be great if it got less teanagers to juice - since I do believe that contributes to a huge PR problem for the BB comnmunity as well as real health problem to young users - but I sincerely doubt it will. :(

although i don't think they will be testing for juice the less highschool kids that juice the better. as for weed, well that sucks.

I'm most surprised that Clarence Thomas wrote the decision the majority agreed with. Usually he just says I agree with him, points at Scalia, and goes home.

It only applies to kids who take part in after-school activities; are they really going to test the frickin' chess club for roids.

If this law were in effect 30 years ago this country of our would not be all fukked up.....or at least in theroy.

This Supreme Court decision was expected because last year, the Supreme Court upheld the drug testing of high-school athletes. So yes, even the chess club is going to be tested.

Come on now, do any of you really think we are free or that this country even uses common sense anymore.

They are going to test the kids that decide to stick around after school and do activities? What sense does that make? These are the kids that are trying to do better and they are going to be regulated even more. jeez

Its the kids that dont attend school and don't participate that most often cause the propblems, so what is this going to solve?

This country is fast becoming a very scary place to live.

Lets give the drama club a weed test, yeah that will solve our problems. Meanwhile all the kids doing drugs don't have time for after school activities and wont end up tested.

And people that think of this shit are college graduates. LOL

Well actually Big Brother is keeping closer tabs on the over-achievers which could cause trouble down the road. I read the short story already, it is called "Harrison Bergeron."

while the public school system needs a lot of work.. school vouchers are likely to "kill" many school districts.. some of those that need money the most..

maybe in the long run it will be better, but in the short run.. there will be serious problems
