I already drank this stuff occasionally when trying to cut carbs and it tastes ok. but i never thought of it as a possible protein source until now since i am going to be trying to gain weight/muscle. the product is called Calorie Countdown and it is a milk product made by Hood. i found it at every grocery store i have ever shopped in over the last year.
some things about it:
there are three versions of the milk, but the two that i drank were the 1) Fat Free version and the 2) Chocolate Milk version. Both taste pretty good, but for just drinking it i would likely use the chocolate since it has the chocolate flavor.
I have the Fat Free carton in front of me, let me post what is in it:
says in the carton outside 70% fewer calories, 75% fewer carbs, 75% less sugar than regular milk.
Serving size : 1 cup
Servings per container : 8
Calories per serving : 45
Fat 0g
Cholesterol 0mg
Sodium 160mg
Carbohydrates 3g
Protein 8g
Vitamin A 10%
Calcium 30%
Vitamin D 25%
at any rate, the cost for me at Walmart Grocery in this little town was 2.25 a carton i think. so each carton contains 64g of protein and costs 2.25. might be an alternative to other protien sources in a pinch or if you are wanting something simple. you could likely buy several at a time.
what do you think about this? i have eaten protien bars that cost nearly this much but didn't have near this protein amount in it.
perhaps i should have posted this elsewhere instead of the roid forum- sorry-
best,
Cal
