New ipod nano is frustrating

For Christmas one of my gifts was the new ipod nano. I'm not impressed with this version from apple. I'm having all kind of crazy issues and was wondering if any of you had the same issues. If so, were you able to find a solution:
1. the volume changes drastically from one song to the next

2. each depression of the volume +/- buttons doesn't change the volume, you have to literally hold the +/- for several seconds before the volume changes.

3. when you foward to the next song, the volume jumps up, but it doesn't reflect the volume change on the volume display bar. But, when you hit the back button the volume doesn't go down.

I have adjusted all the options on the ipod but nothing seems to fix these issues. It wouldn't be a issue but i'm going to blow out a ear drum one of these days.

It happens on any song you flip to? My volume changes sometimes on my phone, but it's the mp3 quality that is the issue. Some of them are awesome (loud) while others suck (not so loud). I already know I will lose my hearing by the time I am 50. I have already accepted it,.

I used the nano today....I had the same problem w/ the volume on the songs. Plus I didnt know how to turn it off either. lol I like my old one better

i'd be surprised if they are all fuct up like that. i'd take it in and see what they think. apple has been really really good about replacing defective pods; everytime i've had an issue i've taken it to the customer service section of their stores and they've given me a new one right away.

I think you have to change a setting on in your iTunes, and then re-sync the iPod. You open iTunes, click EDIT, and PREFERENCES, then PLAYBACK, and check the "SOUND CHECK" box. That's supposed to balance the volume among all the songs on the iPod. However, I think it might only work on iTunes-bought songs; maybe not on ones you got on Napster a long time ago, or maybe not on ripped CDs, etc. But it might... Try it! They keep updating things, and you never know.

If that doesn't work, try the online Apple chat, if you can get it there, or if all else fails, go to the Apple Store as soon as you're home on leave (God willing SOON!!!), and get a seat at the Genius Bar. They'll hook you up (free, as far as I know).

And by the way: Thank you for your service!

I've had the same problems on a generic MP3 Player. Usually the MP3's are recorded/uploaded in a different quality. Is the volume setting literally going up notches? It's probably just the MP3's.

What you doin in Afghanistan?

If you are acquiring your songs from different sources the volume may vary. i.e. some songs are from itunes, some are from youtube conversions, etc.
