New bench PR

i was trying out my new (hopefully improved) wider grip. I now have my middle finger on the power ring, as opposed to my pinkies just inside the power ring.

So i had no clue how things were going to go today. I wound up getting 175 x 4, which beat my old Pr of 175x3. i know its not much, but a PR is a PR
 
nopee, these were not illegal wides... im the narrowest bencher ooutt of the whole c rew.... andi used to tthink i had a w ide grip.

with a bb'ing elbow press I used index finger on the ring and pushed 2x vodyweight
 
I hope - Ia bit discouraging so far though....but my form tends to get better with heavier weights so the speed day was a little weird...but we'll see...
 
you've really got to get used to doing wide stuff. it's definately strange if you have never done it. if you have a shirt on it's different, but if you're going to go raw, it's gonna be tough to get that grip way out there without it feeling wrong. obviously when you're trying to get as much weight as possible, the shortest distance you have to press the bar the better, but that doesn't make it feel correct.
 
I use a wide grip on bb and pl bothj tucking the elbows is what feels weird
