I'd sooner lend cash to a total stranger than loan it to a relative. At least then, I would have a slim possibility of getting it back. My brother owes me 200, and my cousin owes me 300.

And they just assume that I was given a "good job", and that I can afford to throw away my AS money on their alcoholic, nonemployed asses.

Lending money is code for you're not getting it back. Don't loan out what you can't expect to never see again. I owe a friend of mine a lot of money... I still intend to pay him back... I got screwed over, can't pay it back just yet... but I send money every month (even if small) for a gesture of good will...

Ahh well... I don't loan out money I can't expect to lose.

You're right and I expected this would happen. And I'm not dying for it, but it sure would be nice this time of year. But don't tell me you're going to pay me back by a certain date, and then just forget about it.

I can appreciate your decency in at least making an effort to pay it back. Shit happens to everyone, and it's happened to me too. But GODDAMN, a person loses all credibility when he refuses to at least CONTACT the person he owes money to, and explain he's having difficulties.

I let my friend borrow $10 about 2 years ago. I had to steal it from him (grab $20 he was taking out of the ATM and then give him $10 change) to get it back.

I let him borrow $20 this weekend to play golf. Had no choice cause otherwise I'd be playing myself. I hope he has it tonight because I'm heading over with a 3-iron.
