Nelson, I may be wrong but when I rad some of your posts I get the impression that you are against people doing cardio for weight loss.

I'm starting my diet pretty soon and as normal was going to start cardio straight away. My question to you is, would you say it's o.k to start the cardio straight away or should I try and lose as much fat as possible from the diet first?

Ofcourse advice by anyone else is also appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Cardio is simply less effective than weight training for several reasons.

It doesn't build muscle. It's catabolic. It's doesn't realise gh - growth hormone (somatropin) - . It isn;t progressive. (Once you get good at running, your body gets more efficient and will burn less calories).

Weight training builds muscle which is more metabolically active than fat so you burn more calories throughout the day simply by carrying it around.

That's for starters.

I understand what your saying, so do you think that it is possible to get ripped with a good diet alone without implementing cardio?

Thanks again!

You keep mentioning just diet. The point is cardio is less effective than weight training. Do you expect to get ripped not exercising?

Ofcourse I see the need to weight train, maybe I should have mentioned that also! I'm just curious as to would cardio along with a sound diet and weight training lead to better results in terms of getting ripped compared to a sound diet and weight training without cardio?

I only ask this as you are the only one who I've heard saying that cardio isn't that important (again I maybe wrong i interpreting). It's sometning new I've heard and it would be good to learn!

Thanks again in advance!

For reduction of BF then diet is key and it must be clean.

Too much cardio is catabolic so the theory is that if you get your diet clean and train hard and intense then you not only maintain / build muscle, you burn calories and you reduce BF.

Nelson has stated the reasons above and to put into perspective when you visit the gym there are different intensity for cardio work and fat loss 9for the reasons Nelson states)> If you are training hard and to the max and you are not looking / training to run a marathon and want a reduction of BF then that will suffice / be better than cardio
