Need help with still legged deads

They do hit the hams. For me it's almost like a weighted strech on my hams, and they do get worked. But when i do them my main workout is on my lower back. I really feel this at high reps.
 
I feel it more with my knees bent just a bit. It will take a bit of practice in using the right muscles in the right position to do the lifts though. Great exercise!!!
