Got a slight problem with my squat right now. I am starting to have problem out of the hole/bucket. I know it is not my lower back since I dead some decent weight and can SLDL 275 for sets no prob. I think it might be my quads  .

So I was thinking of working on my front squats as a primary lift and some box squats as well...

Any suggestions???

Maybe I had a bad day but I want to prevent future imbalances

What is your stance like??

Work on hip strength. . .I personally recommend box squats (pause on the box) or chain suspended squats over a platform using a wide stance.

Speed work is also good. . .gives you nice explosion.

perform 10 x 2 @ 50 to 60 percent of max.

Yeah, I have one of the Wieder "Mass" VHS tapes and Ed Coan talks about what he calls compensatory acceleration.

And it is just that...compensating with acceleration. You attempt to accelerate the weight throughout the entire concentric movement. Of course this can be dangerous and great care has to be taken by lowering the weights such as louden had said.

I tried this with bench press and when your done you really feel it.

Any chance it might just have been a bad day...or some part of your form was 'off'?

it was a bad day, I was driving all day and only got abnout 3 hours worth of sleep. But on the other hand I was supposed to do 365 for 5x5 on squat. I got out 2 sets for 5 reps but I felt like shit. I think I am going to just relax for this week and hit it hard next week, but with some lighter weight and higher reps and do some speed work.

found out I was really dehydrated today and realized I haven't been drinking enough H2O :(

So I went light in the gym and plan on going light for the next few days.

Can I come too...I wanna be a man...

First of all I would like to say that it is a beautiful thing when so many people recommend box squats. Secondly, I would like to agree...I think they would help.

BTW...the thread title is a bit off. There are some strong fem-squatters here too that could help you out....RECOGNIZE!!

There are some great female lifters, but they are a breed apart as I feel they work twice as hard as many guy lifters. Don't get me going on that one.

I will try a speed day and add some box squats.

All I am saying Patsfan is next workouts are gonna be sick. So show up ready to go...;)

Pats, I'm not trying to be an asshole or a flamer but I really get pissed when I read something like this. You jumped onto this thread and started talking shit to someone who has a serious question training question, talking about him forgetting to take off his skirt...when you have an active thread on the board now where you admit to deadlift 375 for a double... damn. Honestly, I hope you are still natural and haven't been lifting for more than 6 months... or maybe you just forgot to take your skirt off...
