My Workout Video

On the last lift, what type pf grip are you using? And do you use straps on that lift? Just curious.

Alot of nice compound lifts in the vid bro. Good, hard work! The stuff the real lifters do! Nice job

Nice smooth and controlled form! Looks like you've been doing olys for a while. It seems strange, it's like your hardly using any effort but the weights move just fine

Interesting you jump back on cleans but not on snatches

do you do any full lifts?

I envy your home setup!! :)

Thank's Atomic Punk! I do use a hook grip on all pulls and straps to keep from tearing callouses.

Thanks CCJ! I've been competing quite some time. I did take a break for a few years but had to come back for one last try. The weights are mine but the home is a friend which means no dropping weights :( And I do full lifts, just been favoring a hip injury from GOLF of all things.

I noticed that too. I've gotten a little sloppy with my technique training alone all these years (small town livin :( ) I don't mind a inch or two but that's at least three if not four inches back ... waisted energy. Other things I noticed, arms bent slightly during cleans probably due to a bicep injury that I'm still recovering from. Bent arms makes for an inefficient transfer of force to the bar. Some of the pulls were not balanced, notice the rocking, very bad will have to work on that right away.

Things I like: Good extension. Efficient bar trajectory for snatch. Good elbow turnover. Shoulders up towards ears on finishing positions for snatch and jerk.

umm I've been posting vids quite a bit recently...

I know you have brother!!!! But one of the few! I havent seen Bfold, T3c or many others posting up vids here anymore. I also can never view your videos. I probabally need to download a program to view them. Keep posting brother!

You need to right click on each link and save them onto your computer first, then you can watch em with mediaplayer :)

just a standard mpeg file.

Thanks Tagio! I have been keeping a training log but I meekly put it in the online training log section. I have a few injuries that I'm still recovering from so the workouts aren't typical i.e. leg presses, hack squats etc. Also, CCJ's thread is awesome, very well researched and documented. Mine would look pathetic in comparison but I will start something here as soon as I'm healthy :)

AWESOME MAN!!!

Todays workout (1/4/04)

Video is a bit long at 2 minutes but thought some might like to see some warmup exercises i.e. overhead squats and Shrug Snatch. Also, did 95Kg powersnatch for a double, best I've done for a while. Gave a squat snatch a try, bad hip and all. Power cleans and hang power cleans with 110Kg, then finally some Romanian Deadlifts.

wow, those powersnatches are no joke! and hang power cleans with well over your bodyweight as well. what are you hoping to put up in competition?

great video. anyone trying to learn olylifts on this board (like me) could benefit no doubt.

good luck with the hip recovery.

Thanks Tagio,

It's starting to come back together slowly. I've done 130Kg Snatch and 165Kg Clean and Jerk about 10 years ago. I would like to get to those levels again which would also be right at the Master's world records for my class.

Kiloamp - nice lifts! I'd be happy to do those any day :)

BTW what were you frontsquatting and back squatting when you did those lifts?

thanks alot for the video's man, I've got a little collection building with yours and ccj's ;)

your welcome :)

I've been posting clips ever since I started training, although not of every lift. But you can see a progression in poundages and form etc. pretty cool.

Thanks CCJ,

I actually remember what I was front squatting because a group of us had a contest and I lost. I remember doing 175Kg for a pretty easy double then missed 182.5Kg. Backsquats I usually only do a heavy double which I seem to remember was around 200Kg. My efficiency rating is pretty high though, most guys I know squat a lot more than me for the same lifts in the clean and snatch.

Very nice. I especially enjoyed seeing those romanian deadlifts. The question about the difference between SLDL and romanian deadlifts pops up every now and then on most boards and that video clearly shows what differs.

You're strong dude.

Well, it looks like I've been kicked off the website that was hosting my videos ... oh well. I guess they didn't really mean unlimited bandwidth after all :D

That's all right anyway. I was getting sick of seeing their popup banner. I'm going to find a good hosting service and setup a site. Maybe even develop some demo videos of the Olympic lifts and auxilliary exercises and post them there indexed and all :)

DO IT DO IT DO IT

Kiloamp - how long have you been lifting since your comeback? Seems you regained most of your strength pretty quickly?

I actually didn't quit completely. I'd maybe do 1 or 2 workouts a week which usually would be some power cleans, power snatches and squats. Usually, before summer, I'd start working out a few days a week and end up competing in the Empire State Games in August. Normally I'd have a good chance at gold or silver but this summer I moved up to the 94Kg class and we had some Russian kids competing ... well ... I placed 4th :( After that, I've been working out 5 days a week. It has come back quickly, as you saw on the video, I can do 95Kg for a double in the power snatch. At my all time best, I did 105Kg for a double in the power snatch. If things continue at this pace, I'd think all time PRs by late spring early summer. We'll see ...
