I agree with you, Curling....with kids that age, there isn't a whole lot of parenting to be done. Cooking and cleaning are her job....if she's not doing that, then what exactly is her contribution? Don't let no Peg Bundy loaf around your house eating bon-bons while a maid does the work.

While that is true, I don't believe that Curling's wife falls into this category.

Seriously though, what are we really talking about here $60-80 a week.

A smart man would compromise and at the very least get a cleaning lady to come in to do the big stuff every other week.

Curling Bro, I feel your pain. My old lady and I just went through a similar thing. In July my old lady and I both got laid off. We worked at the same lab and they were downsizing. I was planning to put in my 2 week notice that same day anyways, so I didn't care, but my wife didn't have anything else lined up. I started my own business and as such I have been putting in some pretty hefty hours ever since. I get into work around 6:30am and I don't get home until 7 or 8pm Monday through Friday and sometimes on Saturdays. There is just a lot of shit to do when you are starting a business. My wife on the other hand, decided that she wanted to be a bum for a while. I was fine with that because I was making enough money to support us. Well, now it's September and she still doesn't have a job. All she does all day long is watch CSI, Oprah and shit like that. When she does leave the house, she just spends money on things like new ends tables and curtains and shit. Again, I was okay with this for a while until she bascially stopped doing anything around the house cleaning-wise. When she first got laid off she said that it would be kinda fun because she always wanted to be a stay at home mom. Well, I share custody of my daughter with my ex, but she is going to school now, so there really isn't any mothering for my wife to do. So she said she would take care of the house while I was at work. Now I didn't just start acting like a slob or anything, I continued to do things as I did before. But she just stopped doing anything around the house. She would cook awesome meals for herself during the day and then expect me to cook supper for myself and do the dishes from the whole day when i got home from work. So we have gotten into a few fights about it. I told her that if she wants to be a stay at home wife, then she needs to do the things a stay at home wife is supposed to do. If she doesn't want to do these things, she needs to get a job. We can't afford to live off my income alone if she is just blowing the money away every day. So I am in the same boat in a way and I don't know what to do eiter.

Even though it's not a lot of money (to some it is) I think it's the princible(sp?). What if one day Curing decided that he didnt want to work anymore??

I could totally understand if she had younger children, but like I said what's her contribrition to the household???

This used to hit kinda close to home. Before I actually moved in with my ex-gf I half-jokingly said if I made $100K she could stay home and not work. At the time I was still living in Atlanta where you can live like a king on that amount. Fast forward 3 yrs later I'd moved to L.A. (where $100K just means you can afford to pay attention) and over 3 jobs gone from $31K to $55K to $79K. She's now thinking my next job will put her on easy street and she reminded me of it EVERY SINGLE FUCKING DAY. Mind you, we had an 1100 square foot 2BR apt, no kids (and none planned)....wtf do you need to stay home and do anyway? Unfortunately the dotcom bubble burst and my next job found me making $43K. She actually had the nerve to say I took a lower paying job so she wouldn't get to stay home....yea bitch, that extra $35K was making my damn wallet too heavy. Even without staying home she still managed to slap on 60 lbs after I moved in...gives me the chills to think what woulda happened if I had gotten that $100K job....

I got out of college and made a total of $8,000 the first 2yrs. Then, I started making a shitload of money. (for me) I wasnt rich just white trash rich. (Nice house, corvette, stealth, motorcycle, etc.) This hot chic all of a sudden started liking me. But, a yr later I got ripped off by a company and woke up over a mil$ in debt and contracts I had to honor. That bitch was out the door before I got done reading the letter from the bank. Looking back it was a good thing. I didn't end up w/her and I now am making more $ and like it better. Btw she started calling when she saw where I was living and my new car. F-her I never hear a peep from her the 3 yrs I was broke.


This (and this housekeeping bullshit) is why I don't date white chics anymore.

Don't get me wrong if my wife had a job that made money I wouldn't be so pissed about this but yesterday she insisted she wanted to hire a maid. And I said babe your job is being the maid and then we got in a big fight about my motorycles and stuff. I said I make money which I choose to spend on my motorcycles. If you made money you could choose to spend it on a maid. But since you don't, it is your job 8to5 to do the housework. AM I wrong?

Buy her a giant red wig and start referring to her as "Peg."
