My weekly 20 lbs leg press PR...!

I hit another 20 lbs PR on leg press today... and now I'm within 10 lbs of my goal. (Which means next week will probably be my last leg press PR posting.)

I didn't think I was going to make it today. My pattern has been to take the weight I hit for 2 reps last week... and start it for 4 reps this week. It's been going like that for a month... but today I was only able to get last weeks weight for 2 reps. Still i was able to add on 10 lbs and hit it for 3 reps... then add on another 10 lbs and hit it for 2 reps... a 20 lbs PR.

Not bad given that my right shoulder and left biceps feel ripped out... and I've pulled something so badly in my side that it crumpled me beneath my squat warm up weights today. :)

I had to shake up my leg routine so that my workout would be different... so I put leg press before squats. After three sets of leg press I can barely walk. There is NO chance I could hit a squat PR afterwards. (I also do 10 warmup sets before I do my leg press. I know this sounds stupid... but it works for me.)

I'm within 10 lbs of my leg press goal. Once i hit that I am going to go back to 5 x 5 on squats... and I plan to hit a squat PR the first week I do it.

I've inched my squat numbers up while leg pressing... and I am actually holding on now at my old PR level AFTER leg pressing... so I think hitting a real PR on squats is going to be easy.

It would be unreal on the squat or bench... leg press is exponential. A 20 lbs jump on the leg press is like a 5 lbs gain on the squat.

I've heard that it was poor form to bring your ass off of the seat. However, I cannot get full ROM if I do not. On http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/Quadriceps/LV45LegPress.html , I see that the guys ass comes off of the seat when he brings his knees towards his face. Can some1 clear this up for me?

Some of those animations do not show correct form. If you bring your ass off the seat, your lower back will round. Think about how dire this is with the huge leg press poundages that you use. Many a lower back has been injured because of this. If you cannot get full ROM, widen your stance, work on your flexibilty, or both.
 
keep it up........ you will demolish that old squat pr!!!!!
