My Quest to COMPETE - BEAT THE DISEASE!

i'm doing it at the moment, it's usually one compound movement a day. sometimes 2, eg squat and bench, or bench and rows/chins.
another option is (for eg) squats + assistance [eg GMs + abs].
i think you get my drift. but i am basically playing it by ear - with the amount of volume. one thing is usually set though - attempting max squats/DLs (sub one for the other whenever it plateaus) on mondays and bench on tuesdays. rest days come in whenever i'm feeling too beat up. this kind of training is not detrimental, but i wouldn't recommend it for everyone just because you HAVE to know how much is too much and not go overboard.

JK.....you know this from college ball, in the world of lifting weights outside of bodybuilding, training 6 days a week or even every day is not so taboo, but things are looked at a little differently, and weight selection and intensity play a big role......also, if you look at fatigue/fitness in terms of large blocks (dual factor) as opposed to workout to workout (single factor/supercompensation) it is most certainly not detrimental.

I will say, it is tough when doing 'bodypart' splits and excessive isolation/fluff in a routine, but it can be done and it can work well when it is done correctly.

So it sounds like its a dumb idea.....prob. is, my cals suffer as I take in mostly protein and fats all afternoon when I dont train...therefore, I am afraid tomorrows deads will fail....

Don't be afraid of that man, if you know the problem is calorie-related, fix it right now and get ready to pull tomorrow.

my body tells me I could train everyday, or is it my mind? If I went, I'd go in a do leg ext, leg press, maybe some hack sqauts, calves and abs since I have to dl tomorrow and squat on SUnday.....sometimes I need a release or fix after work and sitting and eating all day, if I take a pm shower, I always look so smooth and flat as opposed to when I train,....see my problem? Would that be just a complete waste? I feel weak right now but I doubt I feel better tomrrow, esp. after consuming no true carbs after 1pm or so......just fiberous veggies......I'm stuck bro...

jeff, the mental state you're in right now, i'd advise against ED training, because once you enter the gym you're almost like an alcoholic who tastes his first drink for the day - that first drink is all he needs to get him started and chuck away whatever he'd decided earlier about not drinking today. in short, your mind is going to tell you do "just one more set", totally oblivious to your body - THAT is detrimental to ED training.

WHAT if I go in a just walk on the treadmill and do some more abs? Or better yet, what if I go with my grandma for a little stroll with her dog tonight? Is that smarter? It'll be so hard....anyone else NOT training today? Silver = when do you cut your carbs on off days? Lower cals? I am a frign addict....and it sucks...I know it'll just be a half assed bullshit leg press rotuine and my legs are weak as hell already.....damn it!

a rest day is just that... just take a stroll with you grandma's dog AND your grandma preferably just for some mental peace. if i'm bulking there are NO low (or even lower) carb days, i eat whatever i'd eat on workout days because muscle recovery/building doesn't stop just because i didn't workout that day.

Jeff....go for a walk w/ your Grandmother and the dog, and you'll PR on the deadlifts tomorrow....That is honestly what I would do.......take the off-days to do things that the crazy schedule of a 9-5 job and then evening workouts don't allow....spend some time w/ family, go to the grocery store, wash your car, look at internet porn, spend some time with the gf, get caught up with Sports Center, whatever , but look forward to off days, and plan to do things that the pain in the ass grinding schedule typically doesn't allow.

And, you really just need to change the mindset about meals and off-days.....you're not trying to drop weight and you're not trying to maintain weight, you want to grow.....you need the calories, you don't stop growing on off-days, you also need the calories to prep for the next day's workout.
