i just joined this little shit new 24hr gym up the road from me for the days i dont want to travel so far to get to the real gym. this place is a joke their machines remind me of the chuck norris shit from tv. any way the 4 owners of this shoe box where all standing ther as they do every day talking about anything they think will make them look good as i took the only barbell in the gym from the bench, placed it in the middle of the gym floor because it is the only place and loaded it up for high pulls. the whole gym (4 owners and 3 fat women) stopped and waited with antisipation to see what i was going to do with that and why it was in the middle of the floor. so i started now lett me tell you high pulls are not my strongest point so there was no impressive weight here it was just 4 plates. after my first set all 4 owners walked over to me and asked what i was doing and tried to advize me that that wasnt a good exorsize and i should get set up with a trainer to learn how to safely train. as they where finishing i took off my coat and they all shut the fuck up and went back to their corner and started their conversation back up about how much they know about pl'ing. lol im not even a pl'er but at least i know what the fuck a high pull is. im guessing these clowns will be shut down by next year.

btw high pulls are my favorite upper back/trap exercise. Not that I have achieved beast status yet, but these are helping.

I was checkin out a local gym when I was back from college when I was 19, there was only middle aged women arund and I loaded the bar for DL's and everyone was like wtf ishe doing?

This minus the RDL. I do them from the hang position....

 
highpull. What's great about exercise is, that there are so many variations to each exercise. They are all right! I perform my high pulls, similar to this, except I don't trop the bar at the top. Also, I don't pull with my arms, or upright row the weight at all. I think, loose grip, when I jump off the ground. Really explode off the ground, and let that power transfer through to the bar, by keeping your arms and core tight. I do shrug my shoulders, and use my upper traps to explode. The bar just floats in the air, and I catch it at the top. Obviously I keep my hands still around the bar.

It's a great exercise, the starting point for anyone who is looking to learn the olympic lifts. I really only do it now, when I feel like I'm using too much arm on my cleans. A couple high pulls, really sets your mind right.
 
there are so many variations to each exercise.

+1 bro I had never even seen the RDL - High pull combo on the video SL posted, I had only seen highpulls from a sumo dead position with narrow hand grip then pulling the weight like an upright row as you explode up with the elbows real high then as you reach the top pull the shoulder back...

nothing worse than people telling you how to lift when they don't know shit about it.
 
I say next time you go, chalk the hell out of everything and see what the response is.

lol thats a good idea. i will take some from my other gym. i could make a blooper video out of this. i could round up 3 or 4 of the pl'ers from my other gym and take them all there for a trial on the same day. we will leave that place all busted up and in a cloud of chalk. the fat women will choke to death from lack of oxygen and the owners will be wondering how all of their "state of the art equipment" is all broken.

I went to a gym similar to that this past weekend in palm beach....not kidding, this 60 year old lady offered to pay my daily fee if I worked out without a shirt haha

And as she's doing an exercise, she tells me "grandma still knows how to work it"

We have a "grandma" at my gym. Except this old rag struts around in a sports bra doin BS ab work. She shakes her arms and does this stupid looking move that looks like she's cleansing her aura.

I got new for ya lady, without help from jesus you're not gonna see your abs ever again.
