My Meet Results...

So I had an SLP meet in my hometown today I was using as a tune-up for Gorrell's Nov 8th meet in Tulsa.

But it's been a very rough weekend as last night I performed rescue breaths (CPR) on a a beautiful 19 year old girl who had gotten in a bad car accident right in fornt of me. She coded and died about 5 minutes after EMT got there. So I've really been bothered by that all weekend. So sad that some mom and dad had to find out last night that they will never see their bright college-student baby-girl again.

So I definitely wasn't focused on this meet for the past couple days, but it still went really well.

I opened my bench at 500 and had some trouble touching and I had to pull "a mincher" by taking the bar out of the groove towards my belly button to get it to touch. But I recovered nicely and blew it up for my first official 500!

Took 525 for a second, and it was a much better lift. Easy touch, nice, clean, even lockout - good. I struggled a bit at the top, but it wasn't bad.

I passed on third since it was just a tune-up meet and I had to beat my little brother on the deadlift (Chris only pulled).

I opened the deadlift at 550 - smokeshow.

Took 600 for a second, easy off the bottom, but I had some trouble at the top, but still no biggie - locked it out - good! for my first official 600 deadlift.

Chris hit 550 and missed 600 twice. I went for 625 on a third, but once Chris didn't get 600, I didn't have much fire left in me. I took it to my knees, and stalled a bit, and just let it go.

So I hhit 525 on my bench which is a 115lb meet PR and 600 on deadlift, which is a 95lb meet pr.

Very Happy.

Sorry you had to go through the crash stuff. that's tough stuff. They don't always come through. You did what you were trained to do.

Great job on the lifts. great prs.

Congrats on the PR's man,

But I dont know why the fuck you would want to rub my nose in a shitty day?!?

Later..

Oh man Lee, I really apologize. I didn't mean anything by that at all, and it obviously came across very poorly. My head just isn't screwed on straight right now. I wasn't trying to rub your noze in it at all - I was just trying to say that one of us Midwest Maddogs had a postive day even though another one of us had a poor day.

Spatts, if you could change the title, I would really appreciate that.

Thanks.

ps - Lee, you'll get yours man. You have a big day coming - you've worked hard and deserve a big meet soon - you just have to put it all together. Sorry about your meet going bad. I hate to hear that about anybody, but especially a friend.

Matt and Chris,

Congratulations on one heck of a day considering the circumstances. You both lifted well.

What weight classes did you and Chris lift in?

I lifted in the 275s. I was 260, so I got a double bodyweight bench. Chris weighed around 235 or so. So he lifted in the 242s.
