My Experience With the Army

I'm currently assigned to the USMC Detachment in Fort Lee, VA to train for my MOS 1391 Bulk Fuel Specialist. We have a class of 50 devil dogs, and it had to be broken down. Myself and 9 other Marines were put in the Army's class for the first 3 weeks of our training. The instructor is cool with us, and told us that it's an honor to be able to work with us. The students are good to go as well; however, they're timid, and look at us as if we were poison.

Overall I give the training a thumbs up, but Richmond & Petersburg a thumbs down. Richmond ranks 3rd in the country in HIV according to a brief a Lt. Col. gave us.

Our supply specialists don't get the same level of basic infantry training that you do, so they are probably a little intimidated.

Avoid Petersburg, but Colonial Heights is nice.

Whats up Devil Dog yeah most supply peeps are laid back and dont see to much confrontation :)

Your ass going to try and volunteer for some Airborne training? or you getting shipped out soon as your training is done??PM some time

that is some motivating trash, you understand?

that saying has always been hilarious to me, eberytime I heard it. or something out of the blue like, get that trash off your face, boy.

I'm considering Airborne in the future, but from what we're told Pendleton, and Lejeune are being cleared out. They have a 3 week accelerated course planned in the event we go to war so we can move out. For now we're on the 6 week program. With the way things are going it doesn't seem like I'll have a lot of time to attend more schools any time soon.

I really want to go to Officer Candidate School when my enlisted term is up, but was told my chances of being a Marine officer are slim b/c I have a tattoo on my forearm, and tattoos are frowned upon by the board members who make the decisions.

If thats the case, then I think I'm going to get my BA by taking online classes. Leave the military at the end of my enlisted tour, then start completely over by going to the recruiter, and telling him I have a BA and want to be an officer.
