My ex-wife is an alcoholic

I rarely see her. But tonight she had to meet me at my daughter's basketball practice. Her breath reeked of strong alcohol, the bitch still looks very good- I don't know how. Her fiancee the outstanding community member principal of a private school is also an alcoholic according to his ex and mother-in-law, he drinks about 12 beers a night. She is driving home with my daughter and there's nothing I can do about and that sux. You can't prove someone's an aloholic if they hide it well.

why could you not have said no you have been drinking and i am not letting her get in the car with you

or called the cops and said she was drinking and driving and your daughther just got in the car with her and you cant do anything for whatever reason

Report the place car tags and situation to police. They'll be right on it and she wont be risking your daughters, hers, or anyone elses life!

If I refused to let her go with her, it would have caused a big scene and I could be held in contempt of court. My ex comes from an alcholic family, they can drink like a fish and not be drunk. I like the other idea, although she was leaving with her when I talked to her and smelled the alcohol. It would have been too late to call the police- I don't have a cell phone.

i would have risked contempt, the safety of your little girl is more important and no judge would charge you over that

but im glad things worked out

Dude, you didn't stop your daughter from getting in the car with a drunk driver because you didn't want to be charged with contempt of court?

Fuck what the court says. Thats your daughter. She made through that night, but you can't predict the future. Consider yourself lucky.

Yeah you're right, I don't know what the hell I was thinking. I just assumed that she wasn't drunk because she did not act like it, but she might have been. Next time, I will cause a scene. I'm trying real hard to get along with her for the sake of my daughter. I'm going to call her and let her know that I smelled alcohol on her breath and the next time that I do, I will not let Hope get in the car with her. She is going to lie and probably try to find a way to keep my daughter from playing basketball so she won't have to risk getting busted. Either way, there is no easy solution, I have to work very close with her, because we have joint custody, 50/50 time with our daughter.
