What are you on now? No, I mean RIGHT now; cuz it reads like you're smashed on this post. :)

I take it these meds are for your headaches? Have you tried help from another doctor, etc?

I hope you find relief soon, Kano. I can NOT imagine having to live with such horrible headaches- I'm a wimp!

Go to an ENT and find out if you have a deviated septum - they can casue headache and migraine. (really seriously go do this)

I loved butalbital - never worked for a migraine but it was great for tension headaches.

My God.

I can empathize with you, damn, 29 you beat my record of a 21 day migraine. I'm sorry - I would not wish that on anyone.

Where is the pain mostly or is it your whole head?

You can try a few things:

1 - massage
2 - PT on your back, shoulders and traps
3 - chiropractor adjustment

Quick but temporary relief:

When I can't take the pain I get in the shower and let the hottest water I can stand pour over my head and I'll stand there as long as I can because for a few minutes I won't feel pain.

Then get some ice packs, lay down, put one across the back of your neck (when you lay down there's a perfect arc between your neck and the pillow that it will fill - feels so good), then another over whatever part of your head hurt, if it's your face put the ice in a pillow case or wrap it in a paper towel.

Close your eyes and try and relax - if you're lucky you'll fall asleep for a while.

Oh and the deviated septum - got one myself, bad, I'm getting it fixed early 08.

Did you get them too?

Those are even worse than migraines...
:(

Men get them typically not women.

I suffered with them from like 18-27; worse pain in the world, they are transient and go away with age...

At the time I had Fiorcet and simply used a very low dose almost as a placebo; it actually helped.

that sucks bro
does weed help? could you still function and make money while getting blazed all day?
if so fuck it i'd fire up

Have you had your LP?

Just yesterday morning I diagnosed a woman with pseudotumor cerebri. Chronic headaches, always worse when she awakens, and despite 20+ CT's, nobody had ever done a lumbar puncture.

Not saying you have it as there are other things to consider, but you obviously need to see a neurologist that specializes in headaches.

Dude I had the EXACT same thing. $20 bucks says Amitriptylene takes care of it. It's a dirt cheap tricyclic that saved my life in grad school. My inexplicable perpetual migraines developed from food allergies that emerged out of no where. All of the sudden, I couldn't eat wheat/gluten, chocolate, yogurt, PROTEIN SHAKES, PROTEIN BARS, or caffiene anymore, despite having no problems with ANY of them for 27 years prior.

GET THAT DRUG. It costs between $12 and $25 WITHOUT insurance. Start at like 100MGS and after 5 days move up by 25mgs. Repeat every 5 days until the pain is gone. This is what the lead doc at the headache clinic at the hospital at UW-Madison had me do when I found him after the MRI's and CT scans and blood work. The headaches were gone almost over night.

After that, find your food triggers.

Also, get the book "Heal Your Headache." It talks about alot of your drug options and the connection with foods and smoking. It includes a discussion on preventatives like Amritriptylene and Topamax, both of which I take.

Did you try a neuro doc yet?

They wanted to put me on topamax but they are too in fear of me losing more weight and where I am already too small

Had you tried Amitriptylene or another tricyclic you would be headache free by now and prolly put on weight.

No they haven't mentioned any of those to me at all. The only thing they have told me so far is stick to naproxen and that they want to give me topamax but I am already underweight and finally just put on a few lbs and they dont want to see them go...I will ask her about amitiptylene when I go for my follow up. Thanks

You ain't gonna like this suggestion, but you should go take the tests I recommended B'mom take in her GI issues thread in the ladies forum, seriously.

http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/w...myself-least-try-gluten-free-diet-587125.html

I have a theory. Headaches are caused by one of three things: Toxins (food intolerances/allergies also fall into the toxin category), muscle tension (which would include stress/musculoskeletal problems/spinal subluxations); or sinus problems.

Headaches are a symptom, not a disease, which is why conventional medicine can't fix them.

Neuro docs drive me mad...They sit there and dictate with the patient in the room while speaking to the patient. SO it ends up with him holding his recorder saying to patient " A 25 year old female here today with headaches period. Upon exam it was noted that there is multiple migraines a month comma with nausea involved period.I am directing patient to take imitrex prn comma 50 mg tablet period. If patient has any further complains patient should discontinue taking the prescription and call the office period." LMAO I just want to rip the f'n recorder and throw it at the wall!!!!

I have been to 2 neurologists and one of them was awesome though annoying. I was put on midrin and it worked awesome, but they dont use that often here.( I got it in italy) The other one was a complete tool and told me to take tylenol, lol..No shit sherlock!
I have yet to go to another I just see my reg pcp as needed and for follow ups She is in fear that if I see a neuro then they will automatically give me the topamax. I still have yet to get my MRI done so I suppose that is my own fault.
However in response to MM yes it is true what you say about headaches, although they often show other problems that are more severe due to it being a symptom rather than a disease...I have done the whole not eat certain foods, no caffiene etc and still got them. There are two reasons that my physician thinks is reason although MRI is still needed...I have very low BP and 02 levels therefore she is thinking I am not getting adequate 02 to my brain and that is leading it to stress and contract, the other thought is possibly my BC pills although I never had issues in the past due to BC. So we are still working on it and have changed BC starting in a few days, then I will go for the MRI and if all that still does not show then it must just be that my head is stressed and contracting too often.
