Yesterday I had an epideral nerve block performed. ( I have a buldging l-5 disc ). So, he started an IV and was monitoring my blood pressure prior to the procedure in a room with about 3-4 others getting ready for the same type of thing. He looks at the reading and says it is a little high, then looks at my chart and sees I am up 17 lbs since he last saw me. He just grins and walks away.
Now, when they take me in the room to do the procedure he says to me, " I`ll be talking to you soon" and I just kind of thought...ok ? I was moved to another table, placed on my stomach and prepped. The nurse says, " look at the size of his back". The next thing I know ( like a split second ) I am back on my original table, 20 mins have passed and he knows everything I am on and we are in the middle of a conversation about it and the two nurses are laughing.
I am so curious what went on and what was given to me.

what you were talking and you don't know what you said bro!
damn!
It can be a bad mark for life on insurance companys you may have in future bro, be very careful what you say around your Dr.

bro you were molested by the doc and you don't even know it' he really gave it to you alright! and the nurses were laughing at how small your dick is.:p

you basically had a cortisone shot which requires local anistetic.
my question too you is do you feel any relieve.
i have severe nerve damage in L5 and L6 which the foramen is cutting off my nerve supply too the left side of my body.
please let me know because im looking for other options, ive been on disability since august

I have same condition on my right side a nerve is pinched by a bulged disk or 2 and bone spurs are cutting off supply to nerve.
I had an MRI done on neck and shoulders.

All this time I told the Dr of my pain and all I got was celebrex now this new one IO never even asked for pain meds and he gave me 2 refills of Vicoden 7.5mgs 42 tabs.

I tell ya a second or 3rd opinion is well worth it, I would avoid surgery at all costs from talking to others.

This has been my second shot in the last 4 months...the first one helped considerably after 4-5 days...this one is too soon to tell.
No local shot, I had an IV and was heavily sedated....I went to other route last time and it hurt like hell.

Mechanic,
He gave you Versed (midazolam) which is a short-acting benzodiazepine, in the same family as Valium, Ativan, etc. I'd bet my life on it.
Versed is a potent amnestic, as well as sedative. Patients often talk their heads off while under the influence, and then remember nothing about it 20 minutes later. The good part is they remember nothing about the painful or anxiety-provoking procedure, either.

Hey DG,
Not to worry. I've done tons of them with just a little lidocaine in the skin.
The Versed's only for wusses like The Mechanic (j/k, ;-)

thanks bro I never get put under..
I had the dye in shoulder with 22ga catheter and 2" or 3" inch injection put in shoulder with a local and no pain at all.

Watching the nurses is what freaked me out, the look on their face's of pain as it went in hurt me!

I started sweating a bit heavily after watching their expression.

I was trying to keep my mind off the matter and was talking and looking at 2 cute nurses who had no idea what they were doing in my proceure.
