My dad is 41 years old, a little on the hefty side, and is always on a strict diet. He starts a new shift next week so he will have lots of more free time to visit the gym. I've told him over and over to go to the doctor and get tested to see if he can maybe get a nice prescription, but he is hesitant because of the things he has heard about them on the news and in the media.

For his goals: Dropping some weight, increasing strength, and living a better quality of life, do you think steroids(testosterone)coupled with a proper diet(of course)would be a good idea for him?

I'll probably have him read this, so educate someone!

Thanks.

41 isn't that old. And if he's not really into hardcore training, why push for HRT. I'll bet a little UNLEASHED, Derma and POST CYCLE will make him feel better than he has in years. Then it's up to him to get in shape.

he could get his total test. checked after he leans out some and gets his BF down below 18%. 25 mgs of clomid for 4-6 weeks can increase his total T by 100-200 points, worth looking into more.

What do you mean "points?" nanograms? 100 isn't much. At any rate, it would be temporary and it's not a good idea to stay on Clomid for too long.

So noone agrees HRT would do my dad some good?

of course it would be for anyone, but he should get his training down and get a little leaner and use some natural supps before HRT

I am in mild disagreement with most of the answers. Many MDs find HRT to be beneficial in most males > 40, provided they are CV stable and free of other risk factors. The vast majority of these men have half the free test levels that a 25 year old does and benefit greatly from as little as 200mg Q month.

Have your doc check dad's test levels and see if they are < 400 ng/dl.
