My Controlled Delivery...LONG, full story

MegaBump: I realize the stuff you have in your house will get you in trouble, but if not for the search warrant (the PC of which is based on the contents of the package) the cops wouldn't be in your home in the first place and therefore wouldn't have located the other illicit items.
Trials cost money and time, the prosecutors will say anything to stay out of a full blown trial, which includes lying about what you will get (sentence wise) if convicted. In case you aren't aware, there exists sentencing guidelines. These guidelines are usually followed very closely, most of the time the defendant gets away with a sentence far less than the guidelines suggest. Furthermore, I would rather take my chances during a motions hearing to see what evidence will actually be admitted into trial, I can then confer with my attorney and make a well thought out decision on whether or not I'll plea to what the prosecutor is offering or force his/her hand at trial.
It really is unfortunate that we are not more educated about the legalities and ramifications of what we may get into. I have attempted to educate myself merely for self preservation, I also feel it is important to make others aware of what they may be facing if the law comes knocking at their door.
Lastly, there seems to be a trend particularly in the mid-atlantic states of overly zealous FDA agents who have contacts with local law enforcement agencies. It appears that the US Customs guys are handing over the "evidence" to these FDA chumps who then ask the local yokals if they'd be interested in following-up the cases. This is why there has been an increase in small amount seizures turning into search warrants and so forth.
