i'd prefer to find some stuff like sara mclachlan, poe, jewel, tori, fisher, etc... or maybe something like u2, matchbox 20, travis, etc...

i really like "bad day" by fuel... i still dig train, and despite the sorrow that comes with vertical horizon i still like best i ever had...

If you're lookin for something a little crazy, there's a good metal/alternative band called Ultraspank (yeah, I know, funny name, but a phenomenal group) I have their album called Progress.
Another group I like, don't know how "small" they are now. They've got one single out, but a lot of people seem to have never heard of em. They're called, Cold. No, not Cold Play, just Cold. Their album is 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage. I guess they could be classified as alternative rock, but I'm not sure exactly.

I love Lifehouse's CD .

MB I too like a lot of the same groups you mentioned, plus jazz, sade, don henley, enigma, etc. Anything melodic.

If you havent already, check out coldplay. Some still small bands that are the same type, and are big over seas that you should check out: doves, starsailor, elbow, clearlake, the strokes (have some hype, just now checkin them out), and muse. At least a few im diggin. These you wont be able to find in stores though, only mp3s, except for maybe doves.

check out The Replacements... a band that never made it very big...and I can't figure out why? The songs are unbelievable..Paul Westerberg was fantastic... Check out "Left of the Dial" "Bastards of Young" or if you like it a little more mellow try "Answering Machine" the guys were great

boards of canada, looper, ladytron, chicks on speed, stereolab... i mostly listen to stuff i never hear on the radio and rarely see on muchmusic

Napalm Death, Cryptopsy, In Flames, Dr.Dooom, Aceyalone, DJ Shadow, Buju Banton, Ultramagnetic MC's, Dan the Automator, Garnett Silk, Death, Godspeed you Black Emperor!, and always a little 2 Live Crew to add some kick.

Little known? No.

New stuff? No.

I like it anyways.

If you don't like it, you can cut my abdomen out, stab my fucking leather coat.

If you like Sara McLachlan or Jewel, you'll like Nina Gordan. CD is great! As a flashback to the good ole 80's the new Go-Go's CD is consistently good throughout.

maybe the weekend people are cooler than the work force ones... so bounce this bitch up.

I like music that is very depressing such as tori, jewel etc if you listen to the lyrics and go for a long drive into the middle of nowhere it is a neat experience.
Also Crystal method rocks along with ThunderWave and the 12 year olds. They Have a great new song out called
"Don't take my milk money juice head"

Most of the stuff I've been hooked on would is known as Stonerrock but you definitely don't need drugs to enjoy the music. Most of it is underground and will probably never be on MTV or the radio. This is what rock is supposed to be... playing for the love of the music and no-one telling them how to do things. Take away all the pomp and circumstance and all thats left is pure kick ass music. Here is a list of some of the bands.....

Queens Of The Stone Age
Monster Magnet (Spine of God is still the best)
Fireball Ministry (classic rock sounding)
Astroqueen
Dozer
Natas (not the rap band)
Earthride
Remuda Dust
Roachpowder
Sea Of Green (Canadian)
Rollerball
Puddy (Canadian)
Sheavy (Canadian)
Sunnshine
Your Mom
YOB

Chances are you will have a very hard time finding most of these bands but if you are interested in checking them out let me know as I have an FTP with all this stuff on it. I also have permision from these bands to share their tunes. So if you were ever in Black Sabbath you will definitely find something you'll like.
