Muscular ROM

Singleton

New member
I've always felt that it was important to try to exercise each muscle through a full muscular ROM.

By using exercises like cable crossovers and close-crip pulldowns, I can get a more complete ROM than with bench and BB row.

dont mind spatts and liftbig...i think they are jelous that you have discovered the secret to bodybuilding

Spatts and others: your replies apparently assume something not said.

What is that?

Your POST is something not said. As you can see, many of us are wondering what your point was, why it warranted its own thread. You made a statement, I said, "OK." :)

You didn't ask a question, or say anything that warranted discussion, so what was I (or anyone) supposed to say?

I heard some sarcasm about ditching the power rack. This assumes what ?

I posted this to get ideas or scientific data from others.

I train by instinct. I don't have a shred of scientific data for why I feel it is important to exercise muscles through a full ROM. I haven't discussed it before. I was hoping to start a discussion on this.

Whatever Spatts says, I'm with that. She holds a world record (should that be capitalized?) Hell yeah, she holds a World Record! So I'm with her.

lol...only because there were no records before me.

Singleton, I train very instinctually too.

I don't think the powerrack was sarcasm, more of a suggestion. :)

More to the point, I think that in most cases you should definitely strive for a full range of motion. There are certain cases where people do reduced movements or whatever. My philosopy is to stretch at the bottom and squeeze at the top. Doesn't matter if you're benching curling or squatting. None of this changes the fact that Spatts is a WORLD RECORD HOLDER. And should be treated as such. Mad props still, Spatts.

Thanks. I will do my best to earn the title (by kicking my own ass) in the future. lol

Who else knew (besides me, because you said it before) that there was not a record before you. Take credit where credit is due. It is due. Big ups! Don't deny it.

Well Liftbig, I think I would handle your situation a little bit differently. I still give you mad props. But Spatts is sexy too. I'll shake your hand, but with Spatts, the sky is the limit.

So, you find no benefit in partial deadlifts, board presses or box squats?

ill settle for a hand shake. lol. and did you say spatty is sexy too. implying that i am sexy as well. just want to clear that up. haha.

I was talking about muscular ROM, not exercise ROM.

For example, you can do a bb row through full exercise ROM, but the muscle will not work through it's complete muscular range of motion. So am I saying that bb rows aren't beneficial? No, I am not.

I think that there is something to full muscular ROM, though. It's something I'd like to think about more. I'd like ideas and scientific anecdotes.

To answer some questions asked above: I've never done partial deadlifts. I love doing full deads. I don't squat anymore and I've never done box squats. I have always liked going down to 90° on squats. I have tried partial benches and I did not feel that they were beneficial to my chest. I felt it in my tris. For triceps, there are a lot of things I would rather do.
