Muscle Memory is CRAZY

CRsteve

New member
Ok, a little background: I lifted constantly from ages 13-17, took a year off of football/2 years off from lifting.

Fast forward to this year, 20 years old, soph. in college (playing football again, can't believe how much I missed it). Started lifting Feb. 1 and was very upset at how weak I was (because I used to be strong from lifting so much). 28 days later my bench is up 35lbs. on a 1 rep max and my squat is up 50lbs on a 1 rep max. I've heard of muscle memory existing, but I think this is kinda ridiculous. I'm not complaining. Anyways, I'm loving it and we'll see where I plateau.

so what are your actual numbers? i heard with association to muscle memory, the lower ur max the easier it is to lift that again

For example this was my workout on flat bench after warmup 275 10, 315 8, 365 5, 405 2, 315 10, and i weighed 275 I could also hang clean 315 for 6 which i thought was pretty good. Then "life" jumped out at me and i couldnt train for a while so when i finnally came back on dec. 17 2004 i weighed 250 and maxed out at 325 I was pissed and motivated thats for sure. Now in the first week of march iam back at 275 10, 315 6, 350 5, 395 1, 335 5, and i still weigh 250. I have people asking what im on and i havent used anything except no2 and creatine for 2 weeks about a month ago, all of my gym buddies think muscle memory is bullshit but its not thats for sure!!!! You should keep going because you will get back completely and then some I know I will.

Yeah personally it feels like im on the juice when im coming back like that, it feels great ive not touched anything in over a year and i wont until im all the way back and then some from what i was at. I think muscle memory affects me because most all of my strength is natural ive only done one cycle and ive lifted for 5 years now, I think muscle memory is one huge advantage from staying natural for so long, I definatly love it.

u used creatine for 2 weeks about a month ago? did that help at all and what type of workouts are you doing now? curious to see how i could change my routine abit to get even better results then i am now

Yeah I used Pinnacle juiced creatine and no2 for 2 weeks on and then 2 weeks off then I finished what I had left because that is supposed to be the best OTC stack you can get, I think it works well but I have always responded well to creatine I lifted Natural for 4 years and every winter I took cell-tech and nitro-tech along with a strict diet of 2000cals aday ascending up to 4000 to 4500 a day until the end of winter usually about april and starting about november I went from 6'3 180 to 6'3 255 over a period of 4 years with I would say between 10% to 15% bf I had a small gut but I also never did any cardio or any ab workouts I was all about strength and bulking where as now I am starting to cut up now that I have that size Iam looking to shred down to 240 with less than 10%bf. When I took creatine and no2 it felt like I could stay in the gym all night the stamina was incredible. As for workout routines I do nothing special when I want to add strength I usually go low reps say the "5 by 5" routine but I always tell people that its 99% mental its all about motivation and wanting something, during the summers I slack off and just try to maintain what I have but during winter time I try to stay motivated and focused because thats really how to make gains set a goal and go at it like hell, I have never really put much stock into special routines or special workouts I stick to the basics and work hard at it.

I take some of the "regular" supps. Whey Protein, Glutamine and Creatine. It's weird seeing such severe gains so quick. I'm going to be bummed when it slows down again. :)

Yeah I have made great gains with regular stuff I have done 1 cycle before and am heading into another possibly. The only stuff I have taken other than amino acids multivitamns and whey protien everyday is cell-tech, nitro-tech, no2, z-mass, juiced creatine, cytodyne (there original product is called cytodyne I heard it "made the company") I have taken it several times and I take it at work because its the best anti-catabolic out there and I work hard. I think out of all of that no2, juiced creatine and cytodyne are the best cell-tech has too much sugar, I never took any legal steroid like andro or anything like that I think its ridiculous and probably doesnt do much. It does suck when the gains stop though it got me down once to the point of wanting to give it up for a while but I know better this time there is definatly a point of depression that comes with a plateau.
