Muay Thai or Krav in NH?

Can anyone help me with the classic question of finding a good school? I went to a McDojo a few years ago and was turned off by the seeming lack of any real world application. Now that the gut is a little bigger and my punches alot slower, I really want to get back in the game. Any takers?

I don't know where you are. You've answered your own question. Finding a ggod school with the style you're interested in is the most important thing. Nevertheless, I can assure you that muaythai is very exciting, and envigorating. Yet it does not have to be brutal to your body.

Mauy Thai is the best .... Its a real fighters choice.... Unless u take your fights to the ground.. then ur gonna need some Brazillian Jujitzu/grappling

Hey I know this was a while ago, but only 2 people in NH are certified to actually teach Krav Maga, anyone that tells you other is wrong. How do I know? One of the men is my father and he went to the course in Toronto to train with Moni Aizik (I can't spell i last name), so unless you know my dad or the other unknown man, your out of luck. Sorry

Mate martial arts like krav marga will take you years to master. If you want to dedicate your life to it then go for it. Thai boxing with a decent trainer can see you punching heads in on the average dumb ass out there in 6 months. No art is fool proof and as far as ground fighting goes on the street how effective can it be when the friend of the guy you have just taken to the ground is kicking you in the head. Martial arts like hap-ki-do, wing chun and krav marga etc will almost definately take down any muay thai practitioner if they have trained for 6+ years. If you like hard hitting, fast action go for thai boxing however if you would like to get into something more technical and you are prepared to spend a few years too get good then try the krav marga.

try to find a school with a mix of JKD, muay thai and jiu-jitsu.....good stuff for all areas....Although, if you really want to be a badass, then you need to mix in tactical weapons training and real world self-defense. Hard to find a place that has it all.

I've done martial arts for 12 years. It depends what your golas are. Krav Maga is not martial arts. It's close hand to hand combat developed by the Israeli special forces. It works in real life scenarios, but so does street fighting, aikido, except you can learn Krav Maga principles over night. No special moves really just how to use your opponents power and balance against him and end the fight quick.

If you want to take martial arts, I'd look into muay tai or valley tudu. Wrestling would be a good base to start and so would any form of grappling sport, i.e. judo and jujitsu
