First of all i am 23/m

Was shut down for four months after a nandrolone phenylpropionate ,testoviron and anadrol cycle. Went to an endocrinologist had blood work done on 29 august results folllows

normal range
FSH 1.5 (1.0 - 23.8 pmol/L)
ICSH 1.8 * (2.0 -12.0 )
estradiol 77.4 (49.6 -218.0 )
Prolactin 4.5*** (0.16 - 0.65 )
Testosterone 2.7* (9.9 - 27.8 )

He prescribed me 2000iu hcg three times a week and said the prolactin is a concern as it may be caused by a prolactin secretin tumour
had blood work on 11 october after 2000 iu hcg three times a week

FSH 0.1 *(1.0 - 23.8 pmol/L)
ICSH 0.3 * (2.0 -12.0 )
estradiol 200.0 (49.6 -218.0 )
Prolactin 5.11*** (0.16 - 0.65 )
Testosterone 17.9* (9.9 - 27.8 )

Although testosterone as gone up prolactin as gone up as well with my fsh and icsh being shut down even more my doc seriously thinks it might be a tumour and is sending me for a scan.

Went for a scan on 25102002
Scan results show that there is a 10(W) * 7(H) pituitary macroadenoma located to the left of the midline. The remainder of the pituitary appears normal. My worse fears have come true guys.
I will most probably be scheduled for surgery. The thing is i am only 23 and my doc says it is not because of the roids i have been doing.Pure bad luck i guess will keep everyone posted on my condition i need all the prayers and best wishes pls keep this thread going as long as possible.

i would consider this to be good luck actually. just be thankful that you caught it early enough. maybe using roids actually saved your life if that is what prompted you to get bloodwork done.

You are indeed lucky. Those adenomas would have been subclinical for a very long time. You were shut down hard because high prolactin, although the gear naturally did contribute to some shut down too. Check out the book Man Made by Ken Baker--it documents a guy w/prolactin secreting tumor not detected until age 30 and all the agony it caused him. Ask your doc about bromocriptine therapy.

Zues, I want you to know that I have a pituitary tumor as well, mine is on the stalk, meaning from the pituitary to the hypathlamus. I've had it for 15 years. The pituitary is the main gland that controls all your other glands. I doubt that your pituitary gland shut-down because of doing steroids ,maybe they gave the Drs, a reason to look. Be thankful that you are alive ! I have'nt had mine operated on because of the location. But I will Pray for you regardless of things. Anything you need ,get in touch

Are you guys serious saying the steroids saved his life? Anyway.....always get a second opinion, especially from a neurosurgeon who is at a major university hospital. He will have less incentive to operate. Pituitary adenomas can also be treated without surgery. Most are benign and/or nonsecreting if i remember correctly. I may be wrong though...do some research for yourself. It's your body.

Sorry to hear about that bro, listen to DocTodd, he gave some pretty sound advice. Remember docs make mistakes so you ALWAYS want to get several opinions and do research for yourself.

Thanx for the replies guys my doc is reccomending surgery cos they believe the tumour is secretin prolactin and since i am only 23 being on medication for the rest of my life isnt exactly a wise option. He is chances of gettin a complete cure is high with surgery

If possible see if you can get a PET scan much more sensitive that cat scans and MRI's. I wish you the best.

My prayers are with you my brother. Give all of your fears to Him and have faith.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

- Psalm 23:4

PET scans are very sensitive, but not very specific. Id check Medline if i were you and check on the results based on current literature. Good luck.

Best of luck bro...and for God's sake, do your homework: shop around for the best damn surgeon that your health plan provides for!

my wife had a pituitary tumor at the age of 24 and had surgery also.....she is doing great now and we hae 3 wonderful kids to show for it.....keep your chin up bro, you'll be fine. Best wishes to you.....do you know much about which procedure they are going to use? They went through my wifes nose, don't ask me how that shit works but it did!!

Thanx alot guys .They are going through my nose as well.Surgery will be scheduled for the second or third week of november. Will keep you guys informed.

Anything i know about neurosurgery is concerning the back and spine. I dont know much when it comes to intracranial stuff. But the nose is a common entry point and it isnt as bad as it sounds.

They can go in the nose or thru the roof of the mouth. They were going to do that for my tumor but it was on the Stalk. They would have to go thru the skull (a 2" hole above the eye ) . They said as long as medication is doing the job why go through with it. I agreed. So I'm on meds for it.

Coincidentally, today i had a 24 y/o girl come to our clinic and she had a pituitary tumor removed via intranasal approach also, and she was on other meds to supplement. She had to be very careful with her electrolytes and overhydration.....known as diabetes insipidus So ask your doc if you will be on other meds even if you have the surgery.
