Motivation HELP!!

What keeps you guys going? As in motivation.

I recently started working out again after stepping on
the scale and finding myself at 275... Yikes!!

I am 6'5 with a big frame, but 275 is way too heavy.
My girlfriend is 4'9 89lbs, poor thing! :D

I have a bowflex, freeweights, and a swimming pool.
So i have no excuse but to get into shape.

I do welding outside, and i live in Phoenix.
By the time i get home its very tough to get my ass motivated.

Any suggestions on how to keep motivated?
Thanks for any replies

If it doesn't come from inside, it isn't going to last or push you as hard as you need to be pushed. I hope you are motivated by the desire to improve the guy in the mirror. Every barrier you break down, or every cut that shows up should strengthen your resolve that much more. If it doesn't you're fighting an uphill battle.

I'm 6'5" ~275 too. You calling me fat?

I'm just kidding.

If you're not happy with the way that your body looks, then that should be motivation enough.
...chad...

The motivation comes from working out being a labor of love. Its a lifestyle.....We get off on the pump, on the pain, on the feeling of pushing balls to the wall and just barely squeezing that last, almost impossible rep out, where the bar actually stops moving but you keep pushing and pushing and pushing and the bar starts to move and you complete the rep..... that to me is an awesome feeling and one I get off on big time. It freaking primordial man. We do it because we love it.....
But I know where your coming from....after a long hard ball bustin day at work, who feels like coming home and do heavy squats !!!
But one can turn that around and look at it this way.... there are people out there stuck in a wheel chair for the rest of their lives and they would give their left nut to be able to come home from a hard days work and BE ABLE to actually USE their legs and DO heavy squats !!!! You have no idea how lucky you are that you CAN do squats if you wanted....now stop your sniveling and start pumping some iron Bro !!! :)

I found that I never really wanted to workout after work either - I was just beat down and wanted to chill. So now I workout in the morning before work. It can be hard to get up, but it makes the day so much better. And if you have weights at home it's a lot easier (I drive to the gym).

EZFENDER,

I'll make it real clear. It's really just a few simple questions.

Are you fat?
Do you enjoy being fat?
Do you want to fix it?
What are you willing to do to make this happen?

If you want motivation go down to your local gym and watch a 150 guy put up 300+ on the bench. Better yet watch a girl do it. Ask yourself why you can't.

If you want motivation look at the dedication these people put into their workouts everyday after work, it's huge. I know because I'm one of them.

If you wan't motivation look in the mirror and don't see what you are but what you could be in a year if you put the time in.

What you are now is a choice. Life is full of them. I'ts time to shit or get off the pot man. Make your choice. Do you want to live a lazy life full of aches and pains and ultimatley a gureling death due to heart failure or some such because you didn't take care of your body?

Or do you want to life that life that I know you want. The one that the healty live? The one where you can take your shirt off on a hot Arizona day and know that you are the man without haveing to drink a half case to convince yourself?

Dude the motivation comes from you bro. You have to want it. You gotta tast it and live it and breath it. You have to suffer and hurt and bleed and lift and lift and lift just like the rest of us. Only then will you acomplish your goals. And when you do you will look back and say that wasn't so hard.

Then again in a year you could be posting a follow up asking, once again, what do you do for motivation because I'm 325 and I need to start working out.

The truth hurts buddy but so does getting in shape. The question is what pain do you like more? Ask any man or woman on this board and they will tell you the same thing. It's a life style you gotta love it and desire the results. If you don't then your just pissin in the wind.

Good luck man. Shit or get off the pot. This is where the rubber meets the road. What are you gonna do?

well its like this...how bad do you want it?? i have a friend that's in welding and managed to be motivated enough to hit the weights afterwards!! ask yourself this question. what pushes me now is posting on boards and getting feedback about my training. try it!! tb

You guys ROCK!!

This is what i needed, i am going to print this out
and put it in my weight room.

I am going to take a picture to compare myself
in one years time.

Thanks for the replies!!
