More DOMS babble...and question..

O.K., I should know this already but I just haven't cared enough to find out. Just fucking do it has been my state of mind as far as this stuff goes.

But now I'm wondering and I thought I'd ask.

Can anyone give me an informed and relatively definate answer to this question.

If you have DOMS and are doing everything else right (diet, protien, rest, etc.) does that mean your muscles ARE definately growing?

Clearly you can have DOMS and not grow, if you don't rest, eat etc.

Clearly you can grow if you DON'T have DOMS and are doing everything right. DOMS is not necessary for growth but if DOMS does occur does this mean that there definately IS growth?

I give myself DOMS damn near every workout and have for the last 2 years. I just can't imagine walking around all week without my chest, or back or legs, or whatever feeling sore.

Any "informed" thoughts on the matter?

scar tissue can't be a good thing surely? I never get DOMS in my chest or arms which may explain mylimited growth in those areas.

noooo too much pain! 40 seconds TUL is cardio dammit ;)

sure I'm open to trying anything on my problem areas.. see how that works out in terms of pain

Sorry to hijack your thread Griz :)

3 sets of 40-50secs with the weight being pretty hard is enough - say dymbell fyles for pecs. Dumbell curls at the 90 degree position and ditto for decline tricep extenisons etc. Don't be tempted to do more...and it really hurts ;)

No, It just means your msucles have micro tears in them :)

Also means your building up scar tissue...

The only thing in this thread that comes close to addressing the subject matter.... But NO...what? I've asked several questions there.

If your building up scar tissue, then your building muscle - that's what your saying...right?

Can someone clear this up to some degree?

I'd say if you're sustaining doms you're certainly going to grow with proper diet. But if you get it the first couple times and never again, then you may not necessarily be growing.

Not really scar tissue is something different, and will decrease your range of motion over time and make you "stiff" and can cause pain issues

anyway look at your muscles, are you getting bigger - that should answer it :)

DOMS does not equal growth. There are plenty of things that will cause DOMS, and won't make you grow like walking downhill for 30mins.

I've never heard of this.. everytime you get DOMS you build up scar tissue and decrease your range of motion..? that would lend itself to thinking if we weight train our whole life we'll barely be able to move in old age instead of the desired effect of being more athletic and mobile. what exactly r u talking about?
