Montreal: the best Party place in America

Been there...nice strip clubs....didnt find any good clubs though...but I was real drunk. I will be going up in a few weeks. What are the spots to hit?

Seriously! What ARE the nice spots, Manny help us out. I used to love Sona but I hear it's changed. I've been in Toronto (BELIEVE HIM IT'S AWFUL!!! LOL) for the past few years and I'm moving back in December, found a great apartment, going back to school part time at Concordia... My boyfriend is moving up with me but he's from California so he doesn't know any good places to party either. I don't party often, but when I'm in the mood I'd like to know of a place I can hit that has awesome music, a sophisticated crowd, open late. List as many as you can think of.
Also: any really nice restaurants you'd reccommend?

Clubs: good ones are mostly located on St-Laurent street. Tokyo (2 rooms, techno, hip hop-R'n'B), Living (3 rooms, Techno, house, hiphop- RnB), Central Station and the newly improved Le Sugar (thats where I work lol) with 2 floors (dance floor downstairs and a terrace open all year long).

Forget about Crescent street clubs. Usually tourists go there since its mentionned in their guides but everything there is so expensive and doesnt worth the price. There's also the big Dome (st-laurent corner ste-catherine) which is probably the biggest dance club in Montreal.

After hours: Stereo (Ste-Catherine near Beaudry I think), has the best sound system in the world. David Morales has its only residency there once a month. Half of the people are gays but they're pretty cool.

Aria (ST-Denis, Ste-Catherine), openned in april is located in a former movie theatre. Very cool concept, crowd is a mix of Stereo and Sona. Now for the very infamous Sona lol This place looks more like a fashion show. Lotta big attitudes inside. Fights and all that shit is frequent.

Restaurant: If you feel rich: Desjardins Seafood (1175 Mackay) and Da Vinci (on Bishop street). Also those restaurant-clubs very fashion like the Mediterraneo, Buonna Notte and LeBlanc (all on St-Laurent near Sherbrooke). But for reasonnable budgets like me then go for those very popular "Bring your own wine" restaurants. Yes they dont sell alcohol so you need to bring yours but of course its a lot less expensive. Some that I really like: L'Academie (Duluth corner St-Denis) very good french cuisine. Lombardi for Italian lovers... (on Duluth), Jardins de Panos, all the greek stuff you want. Also Ti Amo (they have wine) not expensive at all and believe me you'll be highly surprised !!!

Now if you have others questions then you know how to reach me :)

When I was in montreal this summer, I went to central station with my girlfriend. Was pretty cool, but a speaker blew out while we were there which was annoying, and it's a little small.

Also hit sona which I liked, but we didn't stay very long.

For after hours we went to redlight in laval, which was CRAZY :)

As far as dinner, we had dinner at gibby's in the old port which was very nice and romantic, except for the obnoxious redneck hockey player at the table next to us, and his groupie chicks who decided to play spoons on the table in this really nice resturant

Yup indeed I forgot the Redlight but you need to take a cab or your car to go there since its at Laval (outside the Montreal island). But its a cool after hour :)

I too will be moving to montreal this winter
(not the best time to come to canada i know)

I have an apt waiting for me on the south side of the island in lachine. Any where cool to go in that part of town?

Lachine ? hummm there's nothing there exactly but its not far from downtown, also South shore (Brossard) with their mega-clubs is near too. There's the Fuzzy, 450 (after), Skratch.....

Some parts of Lachine are beautiful, right by the lake there are some really nice little restaurants. No clubs though.

You're absolutely right manny. I lived in Montreal for 19 of my 20 years.

The Clubs are great, but what really makes it great is the girls. They're hot and they aren't uptight.
