MOJO is DEAD! R.I.P. my friend.

Found him this evening after work....My son said "I can't open the back door cuz mojo is sleeping in front of it and he won't move.".
I brought him to the vet and they left a message @ 7:35pm, I just listened to it.

He apparently choked on a tamper proof ring found around the caps on gallon jugs of milk.

I really loved the hell out of that big ol' cat.....he had a tough last 18 months or so surviving an attack from an animal after he got outside, and a very nasty spider bite.

Holy Christ this sucks! This is the first pet that I have lost. I am sure going to miss him, I have no clue what to tell my son.....

I never would have imagined a pets death would have this affect on me....Sure I figured it would suck, but this is truly awful.

I am so dreading tomorrow morning when my boy asks where his fuzzy brother is. :worried:

I feel for you man, that's a very sad feeling, but you will get through it and be smiling about fond memories of him soon. Hang in there buddy. Cool looking guy, and you took great care of him!
 
Aww, poor little guy. Losing a pet sucks. Mojo looks a lot like my old buddy Spike, I lost him 13 years ago and still miss him.
 
Sorry to hear it. Losing a pet that has been in the family for a long time really does suck..I been through it enough times to know it...

Hey, thanks everyone for posting up in here, it is much appreciated!

My 3yr old son woke up thing morning and the first thing he said was "Daddy, is Mojo really dead? Because if he is, I don't want to get another cat." I asked him why and he said, "Because this is Mojo's house, we can't put another cat in Mojo's house. It'll be alright if we get a monkey and a crocodile though."

Little turd.

Sorry to hear that bro. It's amazing how attached you get to your pets. They're just like a member of the family. Don't worry about felling so down about it, I cried when my dog died a few years back.
 
I love animals. That's sad. They become part of the family :(

Shit I was upset after I had to bring a guinea pig back to 9th grade science class after watching him over winter break.

RIP Little Guy
 
I hope your kid has a change of heart about a "replacement" cat. Sometimes a new kitten is just what it takes to fill that hole in your heart left by the loss of an old feline friend. My buddy Clyde is a replacement cat.

I think he will, Mojo was his buddy is all. I'm sure we'l be getting a kitten again soon.......if the monkey and croc are ok with it that is.

I'm sorry for the loss of your kitty. My family lost our kitty (Honi) over 10 years ago and I still get sad when I think of her dying. I take solace in the fact that we rescued her from the animal shelter as a kitten and gave her a home with lots of love and care. She had a good life because we took her home with us. I hope Mojo had a good life too.

Mojo was a shelter cat too....he had a great life and was loved to the fullest.

He was actually the first part of my personal life that I shared with EF way back when.
 
The relationship with a pet never ends well, due to our respective lifespans. We give them a home and food, they give us love and companionship and entertainment, and then they break our hearts, every time.
