I personally don't think Mods should engage in the activity of "source checking". Let these whiny pieces of shit find their own information. There are PLENTY of other boards out there that engage in open source posting. Let those places handle that activity.

i totally agree...the mods are nice enough to give some friendly information/advise and they are given shit about it when 1 out of 1000 goes wrong.

take the source check option away and let them learn the hard way who can be trusted and who can't. that'll teach 'em!

I agree, but why would a Mod not give someone a "golden source" to begin with? A mod is putting their name out there and you trust him to give you a "golden source" as you call it. If someone came to me, i am not going to give him a guy thats been around for a few months. Me giving someone a source, i want that guy to have the best chance of not getting fucked, therefore i would give him a few names who i believe are good people. You cant just throw every new source all kinds of business without knowing what they are like.

This pretty much sums up what I tell guys who do source checks with me...
I get some ODDBALL ones sometimes that I have NEVER heard of, and those are HIGH RISK imo
I usually advise them to stick with long term sources who have been around for YEARS and HAVE proven themselves time and time again...
You may pay a little more but the peace of mine is CERTAINLY worth it
