thats true though. wells fargo subprime (when it existed) wasnt even really subprime. was basically a minus and the underwriters were ball busters.

there were one of the first subprime operations to disappear. well before most did

My friend has one as a full time job, he does pretty well however I spoke to him yesterday and he said even the fixed-income funds are losing money.

Yeah the muni market got a small hit again a few days ago, and corporate debt is in the shitter. Trreasuries have been doing ok over the past 3 weeks.

MM69 i should have gotten into the financial ETF i was waiting for it to get lower i was hoping it was going to drop down to around 10 before getting in but then it had a strong couple days and has gone up like 30%. I was looking into Steel ETF since steel has been quite strong as of recently but has gone into a dip the past week. I was thinking about maybe getting into it as i think and hope it will rebound.

sorry bro, you should of listened :), I made like 25% this week on it. There was no downside risk left. The real estate ETFs are beginning to pop today.

Their business is horrible. Companies like Apple and Google are eventually going to pwn them at every aspect of their business.

MS is a way bigger company that just their OS. Office is a solid product and is nearly 50% of their revs. They are tapped into every market. I don't see Microsoft getting pwd by anyone. Last year MSN Video made 16.5 million in one quarter on ad clicks.

Anyway I was wondering myself. Google is a search engine and a J2EE app that runs on thousands of computers but they don't sell an OS and a whole development platform like M$ does. But let's be honest, 16.5 million dollars won't pay M$ electric bill.....

Do you guys really see M$ getting into financial trouble?

Yeah that 16 million is from just one channel of ads. I'm sure hotmail has some crazy stats, I know MSN.com host 1 billion users a month.

Google is more than a search engine. The thing about them is they dont really develop anything of their own...just purchase businesses that they need.

True, but give it a few years and I assure you they will not be anything close to what they were 3-5 years ago, or even today.

But people like
Oracle
Sun
IBM
Intel
AMD
M$
RedHat

Also have development platforms and make patent claims of their own development. Not to mention licensing is big with all these companies. M$ Server OS costs several thousand dollars BEFORE you setup clients to connect to those server systems. I would also think one of there biggest money makers is professional services. Some people think you save money not hiring people and just outsourcing. Google isn't into any of those markets

My Ex was a licensing specialist for MS, insane how much one piece of software cost a company. Hundreds of thousands of dollars for some and all that money goes back to Microsoft and the sales people get some type of commission. Funny cause anyone making over 1 million a year these days at Microsoft is not a software dev, it's a sales person.
