I'm thinking of getting a lancer or an eclipse any reason I should get something different, or any solid recommendations in the same price range.

gas milage is important to me.

my truck takes like 20 litres/100km at the moment and I drive 200km everytime I go to work, so fuck it, time to switch it up getting something new.

plus my truck just rolled over 400,000km! shiiiiit, haha.

Sounds good but you might need to go to Canada or the US to get one. I don't think they sell them in mexico.

Eclipse is highly considered at chick car around here
go with the Lancer EVO if you wanna spend 34 grand

it's like 41k starting here, also I was told getting an eclipse would be balling.

like I said
eclipse is a chick car
at least around here, and around here we're pretty cool

You want to be cool, don't you?

ya I don't really like the shape of the eclipse personally, I think I'm going to end up with lancer, I don't really like to many other cars out in the market, that aren't like over 40.

I always heard mitsubishi makes crappy cars, especially the eclipse. They may look nice but not very reliable.

I'd go with a Toyota or Honda.

Ohhhh is that why they are the best backed cars with the best warranty. :p

I'm guessing to get the "Best" warranty you have to pay extra right?

Yep +1

My first car was an Eclipse and it was a piece of shit. I hated that car.

no, it's standard.

also I'm getting new and I'm probably going to lease, so it will be covered under warranty for as long as I have it pretty much.

I mean the lancer evolution is definately not a shitty car, mitisubishi has a pretty good rap sheet from everything I know.

at least over the past 7 years or so.

why are you asking other people thoughts ? sounds like you already have you're mind made up.

Unless you're getting the Evo, there's no good reason to choose a Mitsubishi over one of the other Japanese brands. They still have issues with engine reliability. I'd get a Civic.

Go Evo VIII

or Evo IX

Lancer is sufficient if you're not into racing

If you're looking at getting an eclipse you might as well look into getting a miata as well :teh geigh:

The new Civic Si is sweeeeeeet.

My good friend just got one a couple of weeks ago. 197hp in such a light car makes it damn fast, and it's tuned to perfection handling-wise.

I wouldn't pay 40k for a honda....when I can get an Audi Q7 or an infiniti

I wouldn't buy an Audi at gunpoint...I'd rather get shot.

Infiniti's are sweet, but the coupes start at 47,350

mitsubishi sucks. ive had the unfortunate luck of owning one for the last 9 years. it has lasted, i will say that. but there is always something going slightly wrong. nothing off the charts expensive, but a grand here, grand there. the krank shaft and everything that goes with it went and that was a grand.

it has lasted. i will say that. but it hasnt been a good experience. i can afford a new car now but dont have a long commute so im staying with it till it dies. if i had a long commute i would have gotten rid of it awhile ago but a 15 mile round trip commute per day just isnt worth car payments. my wife is embarrassed to be in the car with me, so we take her car everywhere.

Eclipse were nice back from 95-99 when they had a 4G63 engine and came in turbo and AWD models. Now its just an ugly piece... I would deff say more of a chick car theese days.

I would go with the Lance if you are choosing between the two..

I know honda's are great, I just really don't like the look, the new 2009 lancer is ralley inspired and I think it looks pretty cool.

The Si is as fuel efficient as the best lancer, but the Si requires premium so that's gonna a bit more on gas.

I really don't like the look of the Si and it costs more.

Mazda 3 is another option I'm considering sort of right now the three front runners are.

Mazda 3, Lancer, and Civic.

I like subura's cause I know they are great cars but I hate how they look, i'd only want a WRX STI, but that isn't gonna happen yet, and I'd prefer a lancer evo over it anyways.

thanks for all the opinions thus far.

mazda is the same as ford which = JUNK.

fuck I hate vheciles ever person says every make is junk and everyone has a vehicle that they really like.

the Mazda 3's did really really well.

Mazda Honda and Toyota are the top sellers of cars in north america because of quality and fuel economy.. so I don't know how you can say it's junk.. maybe you don't like it or had bad experiences with it, but I really don't know if calling it junk is fair in my opinion.

Also ford trucks are pretty fucking sweet.

i seen one the other day where the whole front wheel looked like it snapped off. I'd check the consumer reports before buying.

Solid advice, that's what I've been looking at alot of and it's said mazda, honda and toyota where the big three, the 2009 lancer is looking good to cut a bit into that market, but I'm going to do some more research.

but since I'm leasing it, I'm not overly concerned about the quality.

How did you like your spyder gt?

A 265hp Civic? Dood he's looking for horsepower.

I like it but wish I would have waited another year for the newer bodystyle. Personally I want a nissan 350z roadster but will have to wait til my car is paid off before taking on a higher payment.

The newest Gen of Eclipses are nice cars. Only real problem is they have too much torque for the open diff that was the only option when they were first introduced. Definitely get an LSD if you can, or thing will be hopeless in turns under power.

ill back the mazda. my sister has one, a few of my friends have them, i drove one for a little while and it was all good. no complaints from anyone so far. mitsubishi id stay away from, they seem to blow up often

My first car (and current) car was a Mazda 626. being a 16 year old WAY too immature to be alowed behind the wheel, i can vouch whole heartedly for it. I beat the shit out of that car ie. 3 accidents, hauling sectionals on the roof, drifting in empty lots......

have you ever heard of a ford lasting over 200k miles on a factory engine?
The only one I know of is the older inline 6 cylinder they put in pickup trucks. i think it was a 4.9 liter.

omg...those were the SHIT back in the day. like 1999...triple stacked mitsubishis. you don't find shit like that anymore

I do

I hate you.

you can't honestly think that any 2008/09 honda or toyota looks better than the saucy 2009 mitisubishi's.

And that, of course, is the only reason to choose one vehicle over another...

Never mind that Honda is simply in another league from the rest of the Japanese manufacturers. It's hard to beat the painlessness of Honda ownership, or the jewel-like construction, engines that run like a Swiss watch.

gimme a break I'm 23 a nice looking car is a pretty good reason at this point, haha. :)

I need a new car like tomorrow when I'm off work, soooo I got some shopping to do.

Honda, Mitsubishi and Mazda are the dealers I'm going too, I also have an important confrence, Tomorrow is going to be a good day.

and I get to pick it up this morning as soon as I'm off work, fuck so excited, anyone know what the rule is to breaking in an engine.

I have an 07 mazda 6 and I absolutely LOVE it. I had to go with the manual as well, it drives sporty but feels like a sedan.

lol@ rule when you're leasing it. I opened mine up with less then 10 miles on it..no problem

I roll a 1999 mitsu eclipse. 110K miles and still going strong. good gas mileage.

Didn't the car come with an owner's manual?
