I know I must sound like a broken record about this stuff
, but it never ceases to amaze me.
I read another message board that only deals with weight loss--most people there have 100+ pounds to lose. They all follow different plans, some pretty good, a few pretty bad. A few have had bariatric surgery (operation to reduce stomach size and bypass intestine). I read a lot of posts that I just roll my eyes and move on. One I read today takes the cake. I'm going to repost the bulk of it. Names have been changed/eliminated to protect the uninformed

Background: this guy is a "vegetarian". His "plan" is eating unresticted amounts of anything that is not a meat product. He learned this "plan" at a "vegetarian spa" that he went to for several weeks. Although he's lost a lot of weight, most of the weight he has lost is from Optifast (liquid diet) and Atkins. He changes his "plan" often. These are his thoughts on protein.
"As for getting enough protein in a vegetarian diet, there is actually protein in all green vegetables and lots of protein in soy products. I often cook with tofu which is loaded with protein. You only need about 30-40 grams of protein a day, so that isn't too hard to get. Did you know that your body re-uses itself and digests about 150-200 grams of protein per day from the recycling of organ parts and dead cells? So your body actually produces 3/4 of the protein you need each day.
Well, I'm off for a fresh salad with grapes, strawberries and watermelon in it and a bowl of bowl of rice with rice milk over it with raisons and cinamon on it. That's my breakfast. For a snack, I dehydrated some banana slices to make banana chips and mixed that with chopped dates and raisons and some unsalted almonds. It really tastes great and takes any edge off when I am hungry during the day."
Have a great day!!!
