Mentzer Brothers

i've been in this game now for 10 years and like i said he's one of the guys that spouts off with tons of info however it never seem to help him reach the pinnacle.
so he trained some people. what makes him an icon?. if thats that case draper, arnold, al beckles etc...are all icons. im not impressed. i've read is ideas and again im not impressed. thats what i like about the friggin bb of today. they dont run around "preaching" to the world of a new way they discovered of trainging while on roids. its the best thing since slice bread but to really enjoy the benefits you have to do some speed and roids. GIMME A BREAK!!

the guys today just take their dam drugs and get it done the best they can with what they have learned over the years trying every new idea on trainging as it comes out because there is no "one way" as mentzer would have you think.

regardless of his beliefs and preaching etc, he was still one of the all time greats and a sad loss to the BB world.

Where do you get your info?

I am shocked at the lack of viable info some of you are demonstrating. To put the record straight, they were not gay, Mike was not a "speed freak" AS did not kill them (or you must assume all users over 47 to be dead now) Ray did not take his life.
Mike was a very complex induividual and prone to extreme behaviour as many, many creative geniuses in the history of this world were. He had a time of speed abuse, he found he could write and create better on it. It drove him to the ground some years ago.
He picked up his life after deciding that he must get back too who he was. Recently he said that he could not believe how well everything was going and his life was back together.
He had a lengthy relationship (over a decade) with a woman and that ended. Probably a slow broody type with relationships he poured his support into his brother who was very ill.
The shock of Mikes death along with his illness killed him.

Your views on HD training are irrelevant unless you have tried them. Face the truth however and you are afraid to have your main social structure taken from you. The Gym.

Talk to me after you take two weeks off, come back and cut all your training in half, including time in the gym. The only increase must be in your weight used. If you are not bigger and stronger after a month of this then you can talk. If you stay the same, well you have been basically the same for the past few years anyway, so what! You saved time to do productive activities. If you get smaller and weaker, then you have a point.
So far I have not seen this happen.

I know 99% of you reading this will not do it because you fear it will work. Here's to the 1%

It's still strange that they died at almost he same time. I know sometimes old people die of a heart attack after the death of a spouse probably caused by the stress and grief.

its so weird that the guys that run around the fuckin gym (mentzer brothers) screaming how much they know about bodybuilding and gaining muscle etc......are always the ones on the sidelines watching the guys like ronnie, flex, and dorian get on stage and get the dam ob done....

if i had to choose between being one of the best bb in the world and simply just talking about getting there i would choose "BEST BB OF THE WORLD"

just my opinion on all of mentzers "philosophical" ramblings.:D
Bro, you don't know what you're talking . Mike Mentzer was called on by Dorian Yates (and other pros ie. Aaron Baker, R.Kickinger)for training advice. With Mike's training and guidance, Dorian packed on 13 more pounds to a build nobody thought could possibly get any bigger, to win his last Mr.Olympia. Dorian adopted his less is better approach to training and succeeded. Mentzer's "philosophical" ramblings are really based on a scientific approach to training. Try reading his book,"Heavy Duty II:Mind and Body". It is the BBing bible. You might learn a thing or two.

Now I coulda sworn I had posted in this thread....wonder what happened to my post???
That was mine bro. I posted one a few days ago, asking about the circumstances of the Mentzer bro's deaths.

Ah thanks for clarifying that. I thought I was going crazy or something...lol Anyway I had said that Ray took his own life and still stick to it. Read it in last months Muscular Development magazine. He did it 2 days after Mike's death.
