anyone have major problems remembering basic things?

starting to think Im losing my mind (ok, my mind probably left 13 yrs ago)

today I couldn't remember the word differences, and not like a three second pause...like 10 minutes utterly stumped

yesterday it was whether eggs went in pumpkin pie or not, Ive been baking for the last 20 years, since I was a kid

so seriously,
whats up...

stress?
sleep issues?
tumah?

Its gotten bad enough Im still pulling good grades and haven't killed anyone at work yet, but Im thinking of dropping out of school

don't drop out.

just eat more green veggies, blueberries, and refrain from alcohol or caffeine for awhile. always worked for me.

you might be on to something with the coffee, cept, Im down to a cup ( a real live 8 ounces) on average a day

also, Im tired constantly

you better drop out. I don't want to waste my tax dollars on someones GI bill if they're not even going to remember what they learn. :)

It might just be stress. i think stress is the root to a lot of problems including your forgetfulness, lack of sleep, tiredness, ect. i highly recommend meditation. often the mind is too bombarded, running too fast, too much all and we tend to overlook, or not accomplish much as a result of it. meditation is like a mental detox to me. flushes all kinds of useless thoughts cluttering the mind. you'll have no idea how much you need a refresher until you get that after feeling. feels great(calm and light kinda like a weight you didn't realize you had that was weighing you down has been lifted, untrapped-is that a word?lol)

Stress and chronic sleep deprivation impact the memory, both long and short term, ENORMOUSLY. I can't emphasize this enough, I literally hear it at least once a day, someone coming into the neurologist's office complaining of memory problems. It's very rare for someone under 50 to be diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's (I won't say never, but damned rare). Maybe nothing has changed in their life over the past year or so, sometimes, but the thing is, our tolerance threshold for what is stressful to us starts to decrease as we get older (after 30).

In all the years I've been a neurology transcriptionist I've never heard of an amnesia tumor. Sudden onset of headaches, eye or ear pain, stroke like symptoms that come and go and/or seizures, that's tumor territory.

Now, assuming you ARE getting enough restful sleep (one can be asleep but if it's a light sleep, due to ambient noise, sleep dysfunction, etc., it may not be restorative), but you're still feeling constant fatigue, combined with memory difficulties, especially if you're having any other funky things going on physically (too cold/too hot, palpitations, weight gain/loss, skin too dry, hair loss, depression, menstrual issues) I'd say get your thyroid checked.

I've been dealing with LOTS of stress. It causes toxins to build up in your system. I'll PM you with some info on what I've been doing. I think it is making a huge difference for me.

Hey good ideas guys. It's heartening to see literate responses in Chat.

Quick add, liver toxicity. When it's backed up and in need of cleansing, a lot of junk builds up in the body that can impair cognitive function. And sleep deprivation potentiates this condition, as much of our body's detox functions occur during sleep.

agreed willow...its nice to see normal answers instead of just...."you have the geigh"
or "its the chirps"

he is for sure cheating on me tho..

hmmm

thyroid, Im tested every three months after the thyroid cancer....my last set of numbers leaned towards hypo but still within normal, I upped my t3....that helped some with other symptoms
ironically I keep forgetting to take the meds

I better not be pregnant or thats gonna be tricky gettin the iud out

I wish I smoked the herb, Id probably be less stressed or at least care yet

I dont sincerely think its a tumor....was tryin to be cheeky

uhm...liver issues, I'll buy that for a dollar for fatique
given the ammount of synthetic crap I take for my thyroid because natural desicated is almost impossible to find these days

Yea I forget stoopid shit but not like i used to since stopping teh weed. still irritating sometimes. like walk out of the house without wallet or cell phone. miss turn offs while driving. it really helps to have a calendar or something in your phone to remind you of the "to-do" stuff for the day.

But then you have to remember to check your calendar on your phone.......PWNED.

although I don't think your memory problems stem from anemia. lethargy and memory problems, I would definitely go get that checked out.

could be lots of things but I would put depression at the top of my list for things to rule out. If you're thinking about quitting school then you must feel down or discouraged

Ginko Biloba helps if take when you take all your vitamins, I buy some stuff thats a ginsing and ginko biloba mix, and I recommend getting some taurine from a suppliment store. I have taurine mixed with my water first thing in the morning, and it makes me feel more alert and focused. Start doing crossword puzzles, they seem to exercise some part of the brain. Best suggestions I have for ya
