ME Upper: Going to hit a big PR tonight

Off-topic, but in an hour's time I'll add my workout results...

Today I found out that my grandmother has breast cancer for the second time, the first being in 1975 when she had a mastectomy and recovered well. At the start of this year she had a mild heart attack and consequential operation, once again recovering.

Never nice news to hear. For my mother's sake especially, I'm hoping all ends well. She's seeing the specialist tomorrow. There will be no delay or hesitation here.

Anyway, I'm not sure what my main move is going to be yet, but I'll be warming up in a few minutes time. Whatever it is, I'm really going to do some damage.

Bench Press... 3 wheels were just demolished.

140kg --> 308lbs

:elephant:

So maybe my floor press isn't bigger than my bench afterall ;)

Will have a video up in two days when my full internet connection is restored (went over download limit so its speed limited).

Sorry to hear about yer grandmother, man. Really am. I lost my grandfather to lungcancer, so I can relate. But there's still hope.

And congrats on yer bench PR! 140k ain't no shit.!

Thanks skwat, I appreciate it.

The rest of the workout was pretty mundane after hitting the PR. I lost focus and sliced the volume from what I'd planned right down...

Bench Press
Bar x 10
132 x 5
176 x 5
220 x 3
242 x 3
264 x 1
286 x 1
308 x 1 PR

Close-grip Bench Press
220 x 3 x 3 sets

Barbell Rows
220 x 5 x 2 sets

Shrugs
132 x 20 x 2 sets

That's it. Very abbreviated at the end of the day, but I'll have plenty in the tank for the next couple of days, and I intend to use those reserves :)

I'm really rapt. Just when I thought my bench was potentially going nowhere, it jumps once more...

As always, you're in my prayers.
How's the sweetie doin?
I know sometimes it seems like things are coming down around you. Don't let anything get the best of you.

GREEEEAAAAAT PR!

What a milestone!

Thank you :) She's really getting on top of things, which is great. Its still damn hard for her and she has her moments, but things are definately on the way up. Personally, I'm doing well too.

I think my bench has another 10kg (22 pounds) in it within the next month simply through further improving my technique and weak points getting stronger. Hopefully with the help of the video my weak points can be picked up properly, even though I didn't fail, because there were some tense moments :)

great job on the pr zander and prayers for your grandmum. my 30 year old sister in law, married last year on my birthday was diagnosed with breast cancer in february. its brutal, but you have put these things the Lord's hands.

I think if you didnt do the the extra warmups at 242, 264 and 286 you could have gotten another 15 to 20 pounds on your PR.

For me personally i just do 135 x 10,8 then 225 x 2, 2 then blast up to 315 for my working set.

Most important though is comfort with the weight and wanting to destroy it, NO FEAR.
