Max rep once a month

How many of you guys will drop down the weight and do a last max rep set? I will do this about once a month on different areas and it totally smokes that muscle and I am sore as hell for a few days afterwards.

For instance this week it was on bench.
Here was my routine.
Incline dumbells
75's x 12 (warm up)
75's x 12 (warm up)
100's x 8
120's x 8
130's x8

Bench
135x15 (warm up)
225x8
225x6
275x6
315x8
335x5
and back down to 225 x 25 and fail on 26.

Then over to the seated dip press to finish my workout.

I have been doing this for the last few months and I really like it. Seems to totally shock that bodypart and feels great. I was curious on how many other people do something similar and what it is.
 
i do it often, usually only on bench though. sometimes on OHP's. Squats are out of the question, after a heavy workout im exhausted and my knees would be on fire if i did a high rep set after.
 
I do this, but I alternate months. One month I do it with the squat, the next with the Sumo DL.

Talk about not being able to walk for the next couple of days...

I will be doing this with DL's this week. Have a pretty tough cold right now so its hell trying to work through it but I havent lost any strength yet. I'm hoping once I get over this cold I will actually be stronger. May try a 20+ rep set with 315. That should do it!!

If i am feeling strong i will go for a max. Don't really have a specific time as to when i do it, i go by feel.
